どんなバイクでもどんなシチュエーションでも自転車を乗る楽しみ、動かす楽しみを削りたく無い！
とにかくカッコ良く快適に。そして自分らしく。ツーリングというとドロップバーをチョイスしがちだけど、自分は好きなハンドルバーで絶対にブレない。もちろん快適に長い時間乗る事を想定して、セッティングは入念に。パッキングの際も左右の重量バランスをちゃんと考える。(これでだいぶ疲れ方変わると思う) With any bikes, or in any situations, we all wanna make sure to have the most fun riding our bikes and using our bikes, right?
Make it cool, comfortable, and true to yourself. Maybe a lot choose drop bars for touring, but I want my beloved handlebar on, nothing else. Of course I carefully set up this bike for long lasting comfort. I made sure I packed the same weight on each side. (I’m sure you’ll feel a lot less tired by doing so.)

まずは乗って行ったニューバイクのCRUSTのDreamer！日本一周を経てツーリングバイクを掘りまくっている時に出てきたDreamerのパッキングスタイルを記憶を探りながら真似てみたのが個人的エモポイント。詳しく見る
がっつり荷物載せてマイペースによりかは多少荷物削ってライドに集中する比重を少し上げました。ライトツアラーという謳い文句通り2泊のキャンプでは終始調子良かったです。
その手のライトな方面を突き詰めるならラックレスなパッキングスタイルにすべきなんですが、自分の好きなswiftのバッグを使いたいがためにちょっとしたラックでの重量増は気にしないスタイルで。ちょっとした重量や機能よりも「お気に入りのバッグを使う」方が自分にとっては重要事項。好きなモノたちとツーリングしたくないですか？
ハンドリングに影響するフロントバッグにはハンモック関係の重量の軽いもの、クッカー系だったり重めのものはサドルバッグ、フレームバッグとダウンチューブのメニシングケージにはそれに入り切らなかった細々したものを入れるという意識をしていました。 Firstly, about the shakedown bike, the CRUST DREAMER! The whole process of packing this bike is one of the charming points I dug out old memories of how I packed my bike when I traveled around Japan, and tried to imitate that on this DREAMER.
Rather than loading a lot of cargo ride on my own pace, this time I pack a bit less so that I can focus on the ride more. End up performing great throughout this 2 night trip, a great light tourer set up.
Some might say if you wanna pursue lightweight, build a packing style without a rack. But using my favorite SWIFT bags was the priority, so that extra weight is no problem. For me, using what I love is more important than reducing weight or getting extra functions. In the end, you also wanna do that, right?
Put light weight stuff in my front bag to have more stability with the handling, heavier cooking related stuff like was in my saddle bag, and spread out the rest of the bits and bobs in my frame bag, and the Manything cage (by Chris King)

バイクに取り付けるラックも最小限に抑えて、バイクパッキングと機内手荷物持ち込みの両立ができるようにアッセンブル。
肝心のバイクはLa Cabra。ホイールサイズをこれまで使ってた27.5から29erにインチアップ。ルートによってはしっかり登りもあり、グラベルもあり、何よりどこまでも続く広大な大地をグングン走るには大正解のカスタムでした。
ホイールがコンパチなのがLa Cabraのチャームポイントの1つで、今回シーンに合わせて使い分けを体感できたのが大きな収穫でした。いい意味で簡単には使いきれない懐の広いフレームです。
改めて手組ホイールの存在意義が際立ったと思ってます。自由にリムやハブを選んでインチ違いのホイールを所有し1台2役を楽しむ『仮装増車体験』オススメです！ Assembled with the minimum amount of racks on, so that I can handle both bike packing and airplane carry-on with ease.
My bike, the La Cabra was the main highlight. I swapped the long used 27.5 to a 29er wheel. To climb, to ride some gravel, and to run that endless landscape, this wheel swap was the best thing I’ve done.
La Cabra stands out because of its wheel convertibility, and I enjoyed how I was able to swap the tires for this specific trip. It’s takes a lot of time to understand what this bike can do, of course in a good way!
And it was also a trip that I appreciate the custom built wheels. Highly recommend to build your favorite wheels with your favorite rims and enjoy as if you owned two bike at once!

こだわり：ノーパニアスタイル。
意識したポイント：飛行機輪行だったので極力軽くなるようにパッキングや装備を意識。
反省：Pass and stowの3railラックの天板にテントとチェアを直付けスタイルでいきましたが、パニアを使わないならケージマウント付きにしておけばサイドにパッキングできたなと後悔。乗り降り大変でしたがzeitgeistパンパン上に寝袋ドンでなんとかクリア。 My theme for the trip: the no pannier style.
What I tried to do on this bike: Made sure to have minimum packing and luggage to prepare for airplane Rinko (Japanese style in-bag bike carrying trip).
Improvements: I placed my tent and chair directly onto the 3rail rack from Pass and Stow. If I wouldn’t use a pannier, I could have attached a cargo mount on the side to put more packing on the side. Had my sleeping bag on the Zeitgeist on the rear was alright, riding on/off the bike was a bit of the pain though.

組んでからしばらくネイキッドなバックもラックも付けてなかった状態でしたが、これを機にラックをつけてバイクパッキングスタイルをしてみた。セントさんのバイクパッキングスタイルや、MASHライダーのチャズのスタイルが好きでお手本にさせてもらいながら今回やってみました！自分では結構かっこよく出来たと思います！！笑詳しく見る
今回僕らが走った道は正直めちゃくちゃ険しくてハードな道だったんですがそんな道や登りでもevasion liteがとても力を貸してくれて、兎に角疲れましたがその点が走っててとてもたのしかったです！！ After I built this bike I never had any bags or racks on it, so this was the perfect occasion to test out bike packing. Influenced by bike packing style by Cent-san, and Chas at MASH, this was how it came out! I have to say, I think it’s shaped up quite well Haha!
The road we rode was super hard to be honest, but on any roads or climbs, the Evasion Lite always had my back, and had so much fun even with all the effort I gave throughout.

今回の舞台は初夏の北海道！2泊3日！
朝イチバンの便(6:40発)で羽田空港から飛行機輪行を駆使して飛び立ちます。
This year we chose our field to be at early summer Hokkaido!
We took the first flight of the day(6:40 am departure) from Haneda Airport, and planned to Rinko (Japanese style bike packing using public transport) for this flight.
サブちゃんと合流。我々2人は車を使って空港まで。
週末だと驚くほど駐車場が混んでいるので、事前に予約しておくと◎。因みに3日間駐車してギリ5000円いかないくらいだったので、それなりに良心的な価格だと思います。(時期によって変わりますので、空港のWEBをチェックした方がいいです。)飛行機の旅となると、いつだって時間にシビアでいないと危険なのでこの方法がおすすめです。
Met up with Sub-chan. We together drove to the airport.
It’s better to book a parking space in advance, it’s incredibly packed on the weekends. It was 5000yen/3 days parking, so I’d say it was a fair price. (Price do change with different seasons, so make sure to check the airport website.)
他の3人は自走で羽田空港まで。それはそれで楽しそう。結構大変だったらしいけど笑
Seems like the other 3 rode their bikes to the airport. That also sounds fun. I heard it wasn’t an easy ride though haha!
航空会社にもよりますが、今回は手荷物のリミットが20kgだったのでそこに収めるのがマスト。機内に持ち込める物と預ける荷物をうまく分散させることが肝になります。
This depends on which flight company you chose, but this time out maximum weight allowance was up to 20kg, so better not to go over that!

今回はなんとガイドさんが付いてくれました！FREEWHEELINGを運営するブラッドさんです！
幡ヶ谷界隈だとお馴染みだった彼は、2年ほど前に北海道の美瑛、富良野エリアに移住していました。自転車、スケートボード、スノーボード、スキーにキャンプなど、マジで男の子中の男の子であるブラッドさん。そんな彼にキャンプ場までグラベルセクションも含めた、しっかり楽しめる50km超のルートを案内してもらいました。

And for this trip, we were delighted to have a tour guide with us! Let me introduce Brad, who runs FREEWHEELING.
Brad, who have been really close with our Hatagaya members, moved to Furano, Hokkaido 2 years ago. Bikes, skateboard, snowboard, ski, and camping… Brad is super active throughout the whole year! He introduced us to a very enjoyable 50k+ route, including a gravel road section.
無事チャリ受け取りました。日本国内であればメチャクチャになっちゃう事なかなかないっぽいので安心。
Got our bikes no problem. I’ve heard there aren’t gonna so many chaos of bikes getting lost in Japan, so that’s one thing less to worry about.

ブラッドさんはSwift industrysと同じくシアトル出身。驚きなのは日本に移り住んで30年目(!!!)との事。俺より日本歴も先輩〜！
Let me introduce Brad, who runs FREEWHEELING. He’s from Seattle, the same place where SWIFT INDUSTRIES were born. My huge surprise was, he’s been living in Japan for 30 years! He’s been in Japan more than myself!!
彼の愛車は金子さんビルドのSURLY Long Haul Trucker。一日200km走ることもあるよ！とこれぞSURLYだなーっていう使い方と組み方が最高にクール！
And his beloved bike is a SURLY Long Haul Trucker, built by Kaneyan. Sometimes I’ll ride 200km in a day!, he says, this what SURLY means, how it’s build and how he uses, super cool!

空港からすぐでもう北海道に圧倒されます。
一体どのくらいグラベルを走ったのか定かじゃないけど長ーいグラベルを抜けて道の駅びえい 白金ビルケにある“BETWEEN THE BREAD”というバーガー屋さんにピットインしました！
少し休憩してすぐ近くにある観光名所“青い池“へ。記念撮影をしてそこから10分ほどでキャンプ場に到着！(一生着かないかと思った)
Right after leaving the airport, we all got stunned by the Hokkaido landscape.
I cannot remember how far we’ve ridden on gravel, but we knew the hamburger is waiting us just around the corner.
After a small rest, we head to “the blue pond”, a popular tourist destination just nearby. After a photo, in 10 minutes we reached to our campsite! (I thought I’d never make it!)

Brad keeps pushing us saying “a delicious hamburger is waiting for you!!”
だいぶ必死だったけど、SUPERTRAMPが調子良過ぎるのと、パッキングのバランスが良かったのもあって一度も降りる事なくガンガン行けました！
It was hard following them, but because the SUPERTRAMP being absolutely superb with a well balanced packing, I was able to ride without stopping even once!
このご褒美で疲労がぶっ飛びました。マジでうまかった。。。
All the fatigue was blown away with this lovely treat.
超かっこいい青！この近くは温泉が湧いていて、その成分でこんなブルーに見えるそうです。自然ハンパねー！時間帯や季節によってもブルーの色味が変わって見えるらしく、絶対にまた訪れたい場所になりました。
What a beautiful blue! There are natural Onsen nearby, and this lake looks blue because of the minerals from there. Nature is truely incredible! It seems like the blue changes color depending on the season or the time of the day, I definitely need to visit again.

この日泊まったキャンプ場は“国設白金野営場“。
国が運営するキャンプ場で、6月頭から9月終わり頃までの短い期間だけ利用することができるようです。十勝岳をバックに、近くには美瑛川が流れていたりとこれでもかというくらいの自然に囲まれた場所でした。
確かにめちゃくちゃ登りが多かったけど、きつねちゃんにも会えたしがんばってよかった。。。
Today we camped at “National Shirogane Campsite”.
It’s a campsite owned by the national government, and we can only use a short term during the year in between June and September. With Mt. Tokachi behind us, and Biei river alongside, the campsite was surrounded by full of nature.
Yes, the climb was super tuff, but I’m glad I did it, without it, wouldn’t have met a foxy…
標高は900mほどだったかな？涼しくて最高！気付いたらいつの間にかまあまあ高いところにいました笑
900m on altitude I guess? The temperature’s cool and spot on!
ちなみに美瑛川もちょっと青かったです。

After a bit of rest, we started setting up camp.
日が暮れて来て夕飯タイム。
Night fell, and it’s time to cook.
ブラッドさんが車で色々持ってきてくれて、充実した夜を。1日目から濃過ぎる時間を過ごして、みんなお疲れモード。早めの就寝で2日目に備えます。
Thanks to Brad-san bringing us many different stuff on a car, we were able to have a great night. Everyone’s knackered after our first day with full of events. Went to bed early to prepare for the day ahead.

この日はほぼオンロードのツーリング。後藤純男美術館を目指します。気温は30℃超え。美瑛、富良野エリアだと結構珍しいのだそう。真夏でもここまで暑くないと地元の方が言ってました。バキバキ晴れたしラッキーってことで！ ゆっくり作品を見た後、併設されているレストランで昼食を頂きました。
今日はキャンプ場での時間をたっぷり取りたいねということで早めに向かいます。
Today, our touring was almost all on road. We are going to make our way to Sumio Goto Museum. Temperature above 30℃ in Biei, Furano area seems to be a rare thing. The locals were saying it wouldn’t be this hot, even during mid summer. Let’s say that we were super lucky to get this fine weather! After a relaxing art viewing, we had lunch at a restaurant in the same building.
We’ll now head to our campsite for the day, a bit early so that we can relax a bit more today.

後藤純男さんは千葉県出身だそうですが、北海道の圧倒的な自然と景色に惚れ込んでこの土地に美術館を建てたんだそう。案内して下さったスタッフさんも、モーターサイクルでツーリング中にここに立ち寄って、美瑛、富良野に惚れ込んで移住してきちゃったと仰ってました。確かに最高だもんなぁ。。。
Goto-san was born in Chiba, but he fell in love to Hokkaido’s nature and landscape, and decided to build his museum on this very place. The museum staff who guided us around told us that he visited Biei and Furano whilst a motorcycle tour, and was so great, that he decided to move here. True, it really is exceptional…
観光マップには絶対載っていないような絶景をいくつも知っていて本当に完璧なルート！
It’s a perfect route, great views that I’m sure it’s not on any tourists maps. Brad-san knows it all!
無限に丘が続くエリアなので、少々ハードではあったけど常にご褒美みたいな景色なのでグングン走れちゃう。
The hills continues forever, was a bit hard but all the great views kept me going.

キャンプ場に到着！
プライベートキャンプ場なので貸切。贅沢〜。
夜も更けてきて空を見上げると…落っこちてくるんじゃないかくらいのものすごい星空。。。圧巻の一言。肉眼んだともっとすごくて、人工衛星が飛んでるのも無数に見えるくらいでした！
SWIFT CAMPOUTの目的というか、世界共通認識としてこんなことがあります。"1年で1番日が長い日にしこたまチャリ乗って、1年で1番短い夜を星空の下で過ごす事以上に最高な事ないよね！"遠く離れた日本でも同じことを想って、同じ事して、同じ時間過ごしてるって考えたら素晴らし過ぎて感動しちゃったな。
Arrived to camp!
As the night goes on, when you look up… Stars… so many that I thought it’s gonna fall down on us. Simply magnificent. With your own eyes we were able to see even more, even those tiny satellites!
There’s a important message that people share across the world at SWIFT CAMPOUT. We believe that there’s little better than spending the longest day of the year on a bicycle and the shortest night of the year sleeping under the stars. Think about it. Even we are far away, in Japan, we believed the same, we enjoyed this act together, and we spent time together. That touched me.
因みにここのキャンプ場からの景色もハンパないくらいWINDOWS XP。
By the way, what we can gaze from this camp really is like WINDOWS XP.

We were able to borrow all the BBQ equipments at the campsite, so it was all set! Beer after beer after beer!

いくつもの丘を越えると旭川空港の看板が目に入ってくるようになります。旅の終わりが近い。。。(泣)
輪行バッグに自転車詰めている時、3日間のハイライトが脳内でバーッと流れましたね。
何よりもブラッドさんファミリーに特大感謝です！！！本当にありがとうございました！
今回の旅で更にSWIFTのバッグが好きになったし、使いやすさも再確認できました。
After more hills we climbed, we started to find signs of Asahikawa Airport. It’s sad that we are leaving…
All the highlights from this 3 day played through my head whilst I pack my bike in the bag.
And cannot thank enough to Brad-san and his Family!
With this trip, I grew more love towards my SWIFT bags, and was able to appreciate its user-friendly design.
飛行機のチェックインと荷物の預けてひと段落。もう慣れたもんですな。

ガス缶や熊スプレーは持ち込みも預けも出来ないので現地調達が必要。幸い旭川空港のコンビニでガス缶は手に入りましたが必要なブランドがあるかは要チェックです。
Stuff like Gas canisters and bear sprays are not allowed as luggage for both carry-on or check-in. Luckily we were able to get gas canisters at the local airport, but do check if you can get the one that fits to your camping stove.

行先は北海道、フル積載パッキングされたバイクで飛行機輪行するために『とにかく荷物は軽量化！』で挑みました。昨年フェリーで行った伊豆大島よりずっとシビアに考えてキャンプギア全てをULTRAlight系に買い替え。テントや寝袋、チェアなど主要ギアだけでも2キロの減量が出来ました。
Bringing a fully loaded bike on a plane to Hokkaido, the thing in mind was “make things lighter as much as possible!”. I took serious care for the weight and swapped every camping gear into Ultra Light gears. From tent to sleeping bag, was able to reduce 2kg in total, just for the main camping gears.

「自転車を預ける際に外された荷物をどう機内持込みするか」が一番難しいところでしたが、fabio's chest Lサイズで万事解決。バイクバッグでは最大級の容量が全てを飲み込んでくれ、*BLUE LUG* shoulder strapをプラスし肩掛けにて機内持ち込み。
The most difficult part of packing was how to carry all the bags on the plane, and the answer was Fabio’s chest size L. Having one of the largest liter size as a bike bag, it swallowed up all of my other bags in it. By attaching the *BLUE LUG* shoulder strap, it’s now a shoulder bag. That’s how I did it.

積載量に限りのあるバイクキャンプでゴミ持ち帰りが結構大変。ごみを回収してもらえるキャンプ場を探すか、一層ゴミが出ない工夫が必要だと課題も見えました。
Dealing with garbage on a bike packing trip is quite tricky when you want to reduce unnecessary belongings. You should either find a campsite which takes your garbage, or you have to think how not to make any garbage at all. Will be my main topic for my next bike packing trip.

鹿児島に続いて今年2回目の飛行機輪行は、シングルスピードを持って行った前回と比べて、ぶっちゃけだいぶ大変でした笑
シングル持って行った時は案外余裕だったっすよーみたいな事書いた気がするんですが、ツーリングバイクとなるとちょっと話変わってきますね。重量は重くなるし、キャンプ道具などもあるのでそれなりの覚悟と気合いが必要。ただ、これ以上ないくらい楽しいし、どこ行くにしてもハンパない経験になると思うのでチャレンジしてみて欲しいです！いくらでもアドバイスできますので！
Compared to my first airplane Rinko to Kagoshima which I brought a singlespeed, I'll be honest, this one was a lot lot harder! I remember how I wrote in my last Rinko post, that is was easy than I expected. But now that I brought a touring bike, it's a whole different story. It's heavier, and you got camping gears, so you just need to prepare yourself for what you are up to. That said, it so much fun, and it'll be a great learning experience for your upcoming journeys so I recommend you to try once! Will give you every advice!!

出発は羽田空港から輪行してのスタートだったんですが、割と時間に余裕持って出発したはずが、空港敷地内に入ってからがやたら遠く、週末で混雑タイミングというのも相まってかなり時間ギリギリでの到着。一時飛行機に載せてくれないんじゃないかとヒヤヒヤしました。あの時のサブちゃんのシリアスな顔つきが忘れられません。(サブちゃんあの時はほんとごめん)
Because we Rinko our bikes from Haneda Airport, we planned the trip so that we’d have plenty of time of it. But in reality, it took us so long after we entered the Airport premises, and in the end we were so close to missing the plane. I can’t forget the serious expression Sub-chan had on his face (Sun-chan, really sorry for what happen there!)

voileを使ってサドルバッグサポーターのerlenとサドルバッグの隙間に荷物を挟むという術を会得しました。サンダルと一緒にホットサンドメーカーも固定できるかやってみたけれどグラベルの振動で流石に落ちてしまいました。軽量で薄い荷物の収納場所としては非常に優秀っぽい。
あとはzeitgeistのフラップ上の寝袋もそう。(位置的にどうしても揺れやすいところなのでここは軽量なモノが吉です)
とりあえずvoile持って行ったら荷物系のトラブルはなんとか解決できる説はマジであると思います。ただvoileを多く持って行き過ぎてvoileストラップのみを2回ほど落としたので収納場所は要検討かも。
Came up with a magic spell, I made use of the space in between the saddle bag and the Erlen bag supporter using a Voile strap. I tried placing my toasty maker as well as my sandals in between, but the toasty maker fell off when riding bumpy gravel. For lightweight an thin items, this is the smartest place to pack.
Also use the Voile for the sleeping bag I strapped on the Zeitgeist rear bag (Since the thing you’ll strap on here will shake hard, having something lightweight is the trick). Basically if you bring enough Voile straps, I’m pretty sure most of your packing problems will be solved. But maybe don’t bring it too much, I dropped some during my ride. Now we need to think how to store the straps itself!

Yes there are some hurdles to jump over, but there is no better place to play around with your bikes other than in Hokkaido. Shining sun with dry winds, landscape like great paintings, simply astonishing!
