We wrapped an Instagram hashtag #mysurly photo contest! Thank you everyone who participated and posted your favorite Surly bike photos. It was really hard to select winners awards because every single photos are cool and bringing so much flavor.
Okay, let me show you #mysurly award-winning photos!
MOTOCROSS INTERNATIONAL AWARD
First, the Surly’s sole distributor in Japan, Motocross international pick this one.
The owner has been riding this bike for more than 7 years and he kept changing parts and updating.
The LEAP looks great and I can see the playful mind. I am looking forward to seeing how this Karate Monkey is changing in future. The swift industries bag is on point as well!
BLUE LUG HATAGAYA AWARD
Next, the Blue Lug Hatagaya store manager, Chuyan pick this photo as the Blue Lug Hatagaya award.
This is an amazing Surly Pacer. We can see happy vibes from the photo. I would like to ride a bike like this for the future. I just wonder how much the difference between track followed by front and back wheels when turning, though 🙂
BLUE LUG KAMIUMA AWARD
The Kamiuma store manager, Tani-san chose this Surly for the Kamiuma award.
The Kamiuma award! The Kamiuma store manager, Tani-san chose this Surly for the Kamiuma award.
On the #mysurly feed, long tail bikes and fat bikes stand out because of the size, but he picked the Surly single speeder, Steamroller. I think Tani-san picked this bike because this steamroller is very similar to Tani’s.
The owner ran a cool local barbershop. Probably the single speeder is enough for his daily life.
BLUE LUG YOYOGI-PARK AWRD
Next the Yoyogi-park store manager, Matsumoto selected this one.
Fist of all, the quality of the photo is amazing!???? This steamroller has welded brake cable guides!
I love the simple set-up, no handlebar bags and such.
WEBSTORE AWARD
Our boss selected this photo as the web store award.
One the comment it says “My rainy day bike is steamroller, because it is easy to maintain.”
I agree. The single speeder doesn’t have many parts, which means far easier and cheaper to maintain. The basket may be necessary for his life and I like the way he customized with a bunch of stickers. This bike must be his “buddy.”
1×1 AWARD
I picked this bike as the 1×1 award.
At first I thought this bike is owned by people from America, but it isn’t. He is Japanese. This bike is very similar to a bike I saw in Minneapolis last month. Speechless. This bike is just cool as hell.
HAPPY VIBES AWARD
Next, this is the Happy Vibes award winning Surly.

???????????????? . . . #cycling #mysurly #surlyecr #surlybikes #surly #surlysociety #bluelug
ECR is a Surly touring bike. This touring bike is capable to load 2 kids 🙂
I couldn’t see any family bikes with a child seat like this in Minneapolis. (because of the motorized society?)
This kind of bike is maybe a bit of Japanese, which is cool.
OVERLOADING AWARD
The owner is a woman! At the time she was on a sole bike packing trip. It was getting colder then, so the bike trip must not easy. She is tough and the bike is cool! Congratulation!
INTERNATIONAL OVERLOADING AWARD
Carrying a bike frame is gnarly, isn’t it? But yes, he made it. This one is almost art.The other bike is Surly (Cross Check) as well. I wonder Surly Cross Check is better to load stuff though. Anyway, this is perfect!
JUST COOL BIKE AWARD
I rode the original Surly 1x1like this bike when I visited the QBP in Minneapolis, so this brought back memories and I think the Lowside has their roots. And again most importantly this bike is cool as hell. That’s the reason for the prize.
We will contact selected winners through instagram messenger! Again, Thank you, everyone who participated the contest! Sayonara!
