These days, it’s not rare to see bikes with single front chainrings.

Bikes with front gears have become a minority when it comes to the bikes we assemble here at Blue Lug.

It always bothered me to see the one of the downtube shifter boss being exposed or having to put an adjuster for no reason to those kinds of bikes.
I just couldn’t stand it, so i made these Downtube Shift Boss Covers.

They’re exactly what they’re called. You use it to cover up the downtube shifter mount, when they are not in use.
I made the shape of the covers identical to the cable adjusters that you would often see, like the ones from Shimano, or DIA-COMPE

You could now convert your bike in to a front single, while looking stylish.
You could also use these covers for converting bikes into single speed. You know, like Surly Straggler, Cross×Check, and etc…
I made two colors for these. Silver and Black. Pretty much everything you need right?
The silver covers are silver plated. Since making them in aluminum (like the Shimano outer stoppers) would be a bit expensive for just these little covers.
Take a look at the image above.
To your left is the Downtube Shift Boss Covers.
In the middle is the polished Shimano outer stopper.
And to the right is the Shimano outer stopper without any polish.

If you look at the Shimano outer stopper in the original form, you could tell there’s a slight difference in the texture.

But, if you add a little chemical polishing, you almost couldn’t tell the difference what so ever.

It’s really a small deal, and some people might not be bothered as I am with exposed downtube shifter mounts, or putting some meaningless small parts on your bikes. But I know for sure some of you do care and want your bike to look perfect in every small details.

If you are the type to require perfection, here you are.
I hope you make a good use out of these little guys.
