Bike Checks! Surly Cross Check!
Because of its high versatilityand striking an excellent balance between comfort and performance., the Surly Cross Check has been popular for many years. We’ve probably built more than one hundred Surly Cross check so far. Maybe I’m wrong but we’ve built this bike a lot.
In this month, we built 3 Cross Checks and these are pretty different from each other, so let’s do some bike checks!
The first one is a single speed Cross check. Thanks to the horizontal dropouts, you can convert a single speed cross-check very easily.
The handlebar is the Nitto b602F basco bar. This handlebar is great for riders who enjoy an upright, comfortable riding position. The particular wide flat center section sets the B602 apart from its peers.
These tires are the Rivendell Jack brown tire. It’s round, rolls great, and the tread is an interesting checkerboard style that rolls like a slick.
TheWTB Silverado in all black is Blue Lug exclusive. Silverado is one of the best MTB saddle out there.
Single speed is much more affordable than geared bikes. It’s a good idea to build a single speed first, then you will add more gears if you need.
The next one is a cool dad Cross check. Cross check can accommodate co-pilot child seat as well.
The handlebar is the Nitto B352 albatross bar.
The front rack is the Surly 8 pack front rack, which made of chromoly steel. This rack is great for carrying things that would never sit well in panniers.
The saddle is Brooks Cambium. This saddle is lightweight, waterproof and super comfy.
Electric bikes may be more convenient for picking up kids but this Cross check is way cooler, isn’t it?
The last Cross check is like a classic commuter.
The Nitto B352 albatross handlebar can be flip up-side down. The stem is the Fairweather MT-31 side clamp stem.
The olive MASH front rack fits in perfectly with the Silky white paint job by Cook Paint Works.
The MKS black and white lambada pedals (also known as Grip king) are made exclusively for us. These are also a great match to the Silkey white paint job.
This one is my favorite build.
