*NITTO* BM-1R BROMPTON REAR CARRIER

We just got a new Brompton rear rack from Nitto.

This is another Blue Lug Special product that Nitto made. (Thank you always for your help Nitto🙇)

Let’s compare the Nitto rack with the stock Brompton rack.

The Nitto rack is slightly smaller than the stock rear rack. The tubing of them are also slimmer, so it gives the bike an elegant look. Nitto parts are always beautifully finished.

We were always a bit concerned about the stock being slanted, but the Nitto rack solves that issue, as they can be mounted horizontally.

We think that mounting racks horizontally is very important. This may seem like a small thing, but this type of stuff is what makes the bike look more beautiful.

If you already have a Brompton that has a rear rack, you could install it pretty easy.

Just like the BM-1F, which is a click on front rack that we designed, this rear rack also features a threaded hole for installing Koma lights.

Thanks to this feature, you now do not have to take off the rear light from the seatpost when folding.

 

You could also mount reflectors or dynamo lights.

Black and silver finishes are available.

The current Bromptons only use black components, but if you have earlier models that had silver parts, you could match with the silver option.

Bromptons have different type of fenders depending on whether you have a model with a rear rack or not.

(My Brompton has no racks and the fenders are mounted with 3 struts.)

If you have the rackless model, you would need to do either of the following :

①Change the rear fender to the ones that are compatible with the rear rack.

②Add some small parts and modify the stock fender.

(I chose option 2 and this is how my bike looks)

I always thought that I didn’t need a rear rack on a Brompton, but I figured out that the rear rack on a Brompton is not only there for carrying luggage.

↑I think most Brompton riders do this at least once a day.

Without the rear rack, the bike is very unstable when folded, but if you have a rear rack, they can stand very safely when folded.

The rollers on the rear rack are also super handy. This makes a huge difference if you keep your Bromptons inside your house
