Personally, I do love how a canti brake looks like and I didn’t care about the reason so much, but I just asked Matte about it.

And he immediately answered like “I prefer the rim brake fork since we can make it with lighter tubings!”.

It’s not because of a frame, but the structure of a fork.

It reduces the weight and provides riders with a little more flexibility and smoothness.

And 1″ rim brake fork can be super lightweight.

Steel tubings are necessary to make durable yet flexible fork, but disc brake fork and frame has to be thicker and ends up being heavy and stiff.

For light touring bikes, the ideal ride feeling of CRUST BIKES is to be flexible and lightweight.

So, rim brake model is ideal for Lightning Bolt, Romanceur, Nor’easter, Wombat from that reason.

Especially, Lightning Bolt and Romanceur are much lighter than you expected for its classical look.CRUST Australia Tour 2025

I’m sure that you can feel their ideal riding quality with the combo of ULTRADYNAMICO tires and their rim brake wheelset!
