The best part of a bicycle is that you can build your favorite frame with the parts you like,
but I think another way to enjoy choosing parts is to imitate the cyclist you admire and experience why he/she prefers a particular part by using it yourself.
For me, it’s OURY GRIP.

Yes, I don’t think this makes everyone turn into a OURY believer, but it’s enough for me to have faith in it.

The bikes I feel cool always got OURY grips.
Look at this amazing FALCONER which was built for the bike show held by ENVE with a coaster brake!
It’s certainly built with fully ENVE components, but…

I’m not a fan of brand new shiny OURY grips, but I love “the bikes” which look really nice with blackened worn-out ones.
I know we have some better grips out there, but these bikes drive me crazy and whisper to me like “welcome to the OURY cult.”.
And it’s also OURY grips that encourage me not to choose low-key colors like a black one.
You feel it’s a bit flashy at the first time, but it finally looks better at the end.
As you guys might have noticed, there’re many different shapes in OURY grips.
This time, we’ve got this flanged version.
We’ve seen some of them in the states, but they’re not distributed here in Japan, so we just have them stocked.
It goes well with wide riser bars or klunker bars.
Great.
If the flange gets in the way of a shift lever or a dropper trigger, it’s the time to cut it off with scissors (makes it look much better!).
Just cut off like this.
The most basic one, original OURY grip with no flange.
This is the standard of all the time and the best. This is my bike, but they still look pretty much brand new… I have to grip ‘em till they get worn-out.
There’re so many colors. If your bike is way too simple, you should get a bit edgy color to make it cool.
And this is stylish, no flange and sophisticated “V2”.
Great for when you don’t need “the bulky looking” of the original V1 and flanged. A bit longer than V1 and looks more high-tech.
Looks stylish when you look them from a distance. It’s interesting that there’s the time when “it has to be V2!” even for someone loves V1. So, choose just right OURY grip for your bike.
Then, Here’re the two of old-school OURYs.
“BMX” with retro waffle-pattern.
And,
“Pyramid”, the eccentric one.
Of course it goes really nice with vintage bikes, but also looks cute on the serious bikes.
It’s fine for cruisers or commuters, but your hands will hurt on the off-road. But, it’s super cool if someone use this grips with a pair of fingerless gloves.
And also, while OURY grips have the disadvantage that they’re not UV resistant and get sticky so easily (it’s simply the time to replace it.), sometimes they get in the zone if you store the bike indoors and ride a lot.
This is my V1 in the zone. It’s got worn-out and rounded corners, but not sticky. I call this best condition “beyond the OURY”.
Sometimes it works like this and sometimes it doesn’t. How can we get to the other side? Is it faith?
When in doubt, just go and get OURY grips. We’re looking for new believers. Are you guys ready? Three, two, one, “OURY is the best!”
