Velocity USA, a bicycle rim manufacturer founded in Australia in 1989.

Most of bikes built in Blue Lug has a set of Velocity rims.

Jackie edited this video of me building a wheel with Velocity rims.

We consider ourselves to be a bike shop who carries the most variety of products in the world, and Velocity is one of those brands that has A LOT of products and had been carrying for a long time.

We just got the latest model of their rims, “AERO”.

The original AERO rims were released in 1991. They have updated the rims to a modern standard and have made a comeback.

Available in 700C and 650B. The Aero rims resemble the Aileron disc brake rims that Velocity also produces. The Aero is slightly wider. Making the rims stronger than he Aileron.

Made with 6069 (nice) Aluminum Alloy, which is a new type of material in Velocity’s selection.

In terms of bike parts, tough generally means heavy duty. However, this Aero rim is lightweight , while maintaining the toughness, thanks to the 6069 Aluminum Alloy.

The 650B Aero only weight 20g more, compared to the Aileron rim.

If you are currently working on a touring bike that you plan to load up a bunch of stuff, and was thinking that the Aileron or Blunt SS feels a bit sketchy, but thinking the Cliff Hanger or the Atlas was too bulky looking, you might like the Aero rims.

The Aero is a rim that is great for modern touring bike or Everyday Bikes, which Velocity actually didn’t have up until today. A perfect rim for non-competitive riders was born and we are very excited for them

I have built a set of new wheels with the Aero for my Crust Bikes Dreamer, which I built for touring. I had the Blunt SS for a long time, but I think this bike is now finally complete with these Aero rims.

I also talk about rims here too, if you’re interested.
