THE CUB HOUSE & OUTSIDE SUPPLY POPUP
We’re heading back to So-Cal again this year!
This time we’ll be spending some time in LA and Orange County, combining a longer break with a couple of BLUE LUG pop-ups!
Obviously we can’t exactly say “everyone come through!” to all of you reading this from Japan, but we still wanted to share the news!

🐸Nov. 22nd(Sun) BLUELUG POPUP at OUTSIDE SUPPLY🐸
Ride meet-up: 9:00AM
Roll-out: 9:30AM
Once we get back, the event starts right away!
We will be doing two one-day pop-ups over the weekend:
Saturday the 21st at THE CUB HOUSE in LA
and
Sunday the 22nd at OUTSIDE SUPPLY in Orange County.
Both days start with a 9AM meet-up and group ride, followed by the pop-up once we get back from the ride.
We’re still working out some details as I write this..😅
Food? Maybe.
Orion Beer?Possibly??
A DJ???
An after-party???
There are a few things we might be able to pull off over there that would be pretty difficult to do back in Japan, so I’m already really excited. I’m sure a lot of you know both shops already, but here are a few old blogs for reference

OUTSIDE SUPPLY:

Samba is coming along too!
I basically threw him a completely unreasonable request – “can you make the flyer?” – and somehow he came back with something this good!😍

We’ve also prepared a special little giveaway for everyone who comes to the events.
It’s meant to be a small gift, but we currently have no plans to sell these later, so definitely grab one if you’re there.

A traditional Japanese tenugui is maybe best described as a kind of Japanese bandana.
The edges are intentionally left unfinished, which helps it dry quickly and makes it really useful for all kinds of things.

November 21 and 22 are also right before Thanksgiving.
For those of us in Japan, Thanksgiving is maybe easiest to imagine as something a little like New Year’s — a time when family members who live far away come home, gather together, eat, and spend time with each other.
Before the meal, people often share something they’re thankful for that year, and more recently, “Friendsgiving” celebrations with friends have become popular too.
Then comes Black Friday, followed by the weekend and Cyber Monday, so it’s a pretty important time of year over there.
It felt like a nice coincidence that we’d be visiting at that exact moment.
So, as a way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported us, we wanted to bring a little bit of a Japanese New Year / festival feeling with us.
Hence:
“MATSURI” 🏮
And then there’s the word “USA.”
A little sudden again, but…
BLUE LUG USA has officially been established 👏
It’s not a shop.
For now, it’ll operate as a warehouse and distribution base, mainly to make it easier for us to get BLUE LUG products into bike shops across North America.
Yuta-san from The Inconvenience Store will be running it.
I’ll leave it at that for now, because we’ll be making a proper announcement very soon.

I’ve known Yuta-san for a long time and he’s helped me out a lot. Last year I basically stayed at his place the entire time I was in California.
Actually, the THERAPY BAR project with OUTSIDE SUPPLY also came out of that California trip.
I remember saying, “I’m definitely coming back next year!” Then Yuta-san joined the team and BLUE LUG USA happened.
So obviously I had to go.
That’s how this pop-up trip started.
There’s no physical BLUE LUG USA shop, but we’d love to keep doing fun things together like pop-ups and other events in the future, so please remember the name.

And then we have these keychains, which should feel pretty familiar to anyone from Japan.
We made separate versions for THE CUB HOUSE and OUTSIDE SUPPLY, so ideally you’ll come to both days and collect both.
By the way, TOAD CORNER is apparently the name of a special section being set up inside OUTSIDE SUPPLY.

So, to everyone in LA and Orange County: We hope you’ll come join us — starting with the ride 🫡
