Shtak 2024 and Online Special Messenger Bags
It’s that time if the year again.
Allow me to give a short explanation on what Shtak is.
Shtak is a handmade messenger bag sewn by me (Jugg).
Shtak=Shutaku – “手沢” is a Japanese word which means; The “wear” when using or owning something for a long period. In other words, something you have loved and kept near you.”
I wanted to make a bag that makes you want to carry everyday. A bag that you can enjoy the aging process, like leather saddles on a bike.
I have been taking orders of Shtak every year from 2017.
Check out the details for Shtak 2024 HERE
I will start taking in store orders from September 14th (Sat) to September 16th (Mon.)
Online orders will start from September 16th (Mon.) 7:00p.m. (JST)
The lead time would be about 1-2 months after the orders.
This will be the 7th year of making these bags. I have made at least 300 of the Shtaks throughout the years…wow that is a lot.
I am very appreciative that you guys enjoy the bags. This project is possible because of all of you. Thank you so much.
For 2024 Shtak bags, I will be using a camo fabric, which will be something new to me.
“500 Denier CORDURA® Nylon Coated Camouflage Fabric – Realtree® AP Black”
That is a very long name for a color, so I will go with “Night Realtree Camo”
I LOVE seeing waxed canvas get older as you use them, but I also love the way Cordura nylon ages. And the night tree camo caught my eyes and I could not stop thinking about it.
Hope you dig the Shtak bags!
And another fun project!
The Messenger Bag Online Store Special is here.
The bag was designed by Asahi, the system engineer of the Blue Lug Online shop, who is also an ex-bike messenger.
Asahi and I had a conversation on what kind of messenger bags he currently wants.
He said he wanted a messenger bag that is made of grey ballistic nylon, which is a fabric used on the Chouinard Equipment bag he owns. He wanted the looks of that bag on a messenger bag.
Another feature he wanted was a green tarpaulin lining, so we picked this bright emerald green tarpaulin fabric, as you can see in the pics above. I love listening to my friends ideas and making the into an actual product. It’s always refreshing.
The Online Special Messenger Bag is NOW AVAILABLE online!
See you at Hatagaya this weekend!
