Mid Typhoon Bike Check
Did you read Issue’s blog?
It was nice to see all the pictures from the MADE bike show. I took some photos of American Handmade frames that we have hanging on the sealing of the shop to stay in the mood for handmade bicycles.
I’ve been enjoying sipping beer at home looking at the photos that were taken at the event, since there is a big typhoon going through Japan.
Anyways…
Let’s do a bike check for good ol’ sakes.
RIVENDELL Sam Hillborne size:51
The owner of this bike started his bike life with a Surly Cross x Check.
He lives close to the shop and came to see what’s up one day, and we ended up on a Cross x Check build for him
He went on to riding a Mash Steel and now he got himself a new Sam Hillborne.
Almost half of the parts were recycled from the previous Cross x Check. The wheels were newly laces with Son Dybamo Hub on the front and Philwood on the rear.
The owner already knew what tires he wanted for the build and that would be the Bruce Gordon Rock N’ Road tires
We managed to shoved in 650x48B tires, but I recommend going with 43B if you want to use these tires.
Sugino cranks with a chainring guard.
Paul Cantis to top off this beautiful build.
I always love looking at bikes from this angle.
I also love that the owner is digging deeper into the world of bikes. The day he picked up this bike was coincidently his birthday so this build was a special one.
