Custom Painted “Nor’Easter” by Cook Paint Works
Hello, it’s me Konno-boy from Cook Paint Works.
It’s December and finally getting cold here in Tokyo. Today I’d like to show you a custom paint I have done recently which suits this kind of season and the photo below is one with the CRUST’s original paint.CRUST’s “Nor’easter”, let me introduce the frame first. It features 1″ threaded-head and disc brake. It’s a dirt-tourer combined EVASION’s tire clearance and Romanceur’s lightness. We can arguably say that CRUST is the best at making hybrid frames with classic details and modern spec like this Nor’easter, it was surprising to see such a frame at first. This time Cent, our craziest staff about Crust gave me a request to paint a Nor’easter for Yoyogi Park’s demo bike.
First of all, let’s think about theme of the paint.
The original color comes with turquoise blue lugged frame. This solid color paint is cool too of course.
Actually I came up with a question that “What is Nor’easter, first of all?”, not about the frame but meaning of the word. According to wikipedia…
“A nor’easter (also northeaster), is a large-scale extratropical cyclone in the western North Atlantic Ocean. The name derives from the direction of the winds that blow from the northeast. The term is commonly used in the winter in New England and Atlantic Canada.”
I see!
Apparently this big storm in winter times comes with outrageous blizzard. It seems uncomparable to this winter in Tokyo which is very mild so far. They say Nor’easter happens in Florida and New York occasionally so I guess Matt of Crust has experienced it.
Ok, now I understood the meaning of the word. Let’s think about the paint.
I decided on “cold like blizzard” as the theme for the Nor’easter’s paint.
We called this color “Mach-silver” and it’s this year’s most popular demand by the way. This time I arranged it a bit to spread some random pattern on the frame. I had never done it before but it turned out even better than I expected!
The logos are repainted as well. The blue logos with black outline and gold thunder. These are repainted as well. It’s fun to paint logos with multi colors and it’s cool to see the outline lets letters stand out!
This is how it’s done! What do you think? Now I only need to wait for Cent to build it cool, please Cen-chan! If you are planning to come to Tokyo for the X’mas time, please visit Yoyogi Park store to see the frame.
Last but not least…
