Chucka Tachinami the Chinese Restaurant is coming to Lug for one night!

The restaurant is run by these two gentlemen. To your left is Kyohei and to your right is Ukyo, Kyohei being the older brother.

At the time of last year’s event, the restaurant wasn’t even finished yet, but now it’s located near Shōin Shrine, about a 5-minute bike ride from the Blue Lug Kamiuma. It’s an incredibly popular spot now, where daily lines are the norm and it’s constantly featured in various media platforms.

Ever since the restaurant opened, I’ve been going to Tachinami almost every week, and when I can’t eat there because I’m too busy, I feel like I’m going crazy. Whether it’s a post-ride celebration, a simple lunch, or dinner. It’s no exaggeration to say it’s become an integral part of my life.

I love them so much, I sometimes even help them out washing dishes and serving plates.

We got to feature them on Bike People #15. You can watch them talk about their upbringings and about their bikes with English subtitles.

 

This year, with new member Hanzai-kun (the gentleman to the right) joining the crew. They are even more powerful now and I cannot wait to have their delicious food.

It’s mentioned in the video above, but the younger brother Ukyo came to Blue Lug and got his Disc Trucker built by Digi, which started our friendship. Then, the older brother Kyohei came and got himself a Sam Hillborne. Hanzai-kun also got himself a Charlie Gallop pretty recently.

Chuka Tachinami at Lug pt.2

Once again this year, Ukyo has come up with lots of original menu items just for this event. Dishes you can’t order at their restaurant.

This menu features not only the classics like dumplings and roast pork, but also chilled mapo eggplant, Chinese-style spaghetti salad, Chilled Black Dandan Noodles, Red Inari Sushi and more…

It’s all dishes I’ve never heard of before, so I’m already looking forward to it. Ukyo himself says that Chilled Black Dan Dan Noodles is his top recommendation.

Chuka Tachinami’s menu were actually created by their parents.

For example, this “Red Inari Sushi” is one such dish, and Tachinami’s signature “Red Omelet Fried Rice”, which I absolutely love was apparently created by their father. It seems that “omelets mixed with red ginger” were a staple in the Tachinami family’s bento boxes.

Their traditional fried eggs inspired them to think of the “Red Omelet Fried Rice”, which is my favorite.

I love the dish so much, we went ahead and made shirts of the Red Omelet Fried Rice, just to make the event more fun.

 

We’ve heard that it’s difficult to make fried rice at Lug due to equipment issues, but we asked Ukyo to make an exception for us, so please note that this is going to be a limited-quantity menu. He’s agreed to prepare 30 servings of Red Omelet Fried Rice.

We printed their logo and our logo on the same plates and spoons that they use in their restaurant. This will be a very limited offer. The goods will be available online from the 14th of July at 7:00pm JST, if we still have the inventory after the event.
