The Bike Shorts are back and even better. We’ve added a few new colors and updated the fit. We will be launching the new batch of the Bike Shorts in stores first, from July 25th – 26th (Sat & Sun)

How’s the summer for you? I hope everybody is staying hydrated and staying healthy.

Did you have the chance to check out the Dropouts Breeze Jacket and Breeze pants? Dropouts is our new clothing line that we just launched. This was a project make clothes that help you stay cool all summer with the breathability of the materials and some clever design features.

The traditional way of  dealing with temperature is to increasing and reducing the amount of fabric, but these clothes are both full length, but still lets you stay cool and protects you from sunlight.

However, today I’m writing about a classic way of dealing with heat. If it’s hot, just reduce the amount of fabric.

The Bike Shorts were developed from us wanting a shorts that feels good for bike riding. This would be the 3rd batch of this product, thanks to everyone who got them🙏 (Read more about the Bike Shorts HERE)

There are a total of 3 features that we’ve updated since the last batch.

1. Key loop.

You can now hang your keys on the belt loop and this little loop we’ve added specifically for key chains.

2. New fit for the waist and hips

The new batch has a slightly looser fit than last time. With that said, they don’t look any different when worn. For repeating customers of the shorts, you should be able to wear the same size you got last time without a problem.

3. New belt tape material

We got a few feedbacks where the belt loosens when unwanted, so we’ve used a thicker material for the waist belts. They are now a bit harder to tighten with one hand, like the last batch, but you won’t have to be constantly pulling the belt to make sure the shorts won’t fall. The belts are also more durable.

These updates are based on the feedbacks we got for the Motion Pants, and I feel like the shorts are perfect than ever.

If one thing gets an upgrade, we apply it on others. A relationship like a binary star system, where the two influence each other. Growth is twice as fast.

Hmm, what colors should we do for this batch? We already have 6 colors in total, but what colors would the users want?

Navy blue; I don’t know why we didn’t make these colors in the first place.

Purple; a classic color that is reminiscent of old outdoor gear.

Red; a bright color that makes you stand out.

Light pink; a nice soft color.

Alright, let’s make ‘em all.

We’ve made all the four colors above, in addition to black, olive, gray, ivory, teal and orange. The Bike Shorts are now available in 10 colors total.

We wanted to offer an opportunity for customers to try out the new batch and the new colors, so we will be holding a Bike Short Event at the Hatagaya Store. Here are the details…

ONLINE Drop

July 27th (Mon) 7:00 p.m. (JST)

*Kamiuma, Yoyogi Park, and Kagoshima stores will have them in stock as soon as the preparations are complete.

“Trying on is free” is my favorite phrase. We’ll have all the colors and size ready, so come on and try ‘em all.

And…

On the same day, our clothing shop, Friday will be doing a pop-up shop of Merino Merino, a Japanese brand who specializes in creating quality wool t-shirts.

You may be surprised to hear wool in the summer, but wool is of course the fur of animals. In humid conditions, the cuticle absorbs moisture (which is why hair gets frizzy on rainy days), and it also has the best deodorizing power of any clothing fiber when it comes to sweat and ammonia. You could say it’s the perfect material for the summer when you sweat a lot.

I’m hoping you will check out their event too.

We’ll be waiting for you with AC on full blast!
