You may think of bike bags when hearing the brand name, Fairweather, but they actually make bike parts. They even made frames back then.

The Traveler Tires are one of their best selling product, both domestically and internationally.

I have a very good feeling about the latest FW product.

*FW* Tange PS Headset

Headsets made by the Japanese bike component manufacturer, who you probably heard their name once at some point.

Tange Seiki was founded in 1920 as “Tange Iron Works”. They originally made high end bicycle forks up until the late 1970s when they changes their company name to “Tange Seiki”. “Tange” is a Japanese surname pronounced “Tahn-geh”, not “Tanj” and “Seiki” means “precision machining” in Japanese. Tange Seiki is a brand with a long history of delivering headsets and bottom brackets with the highest possible quality and Japanese precision machining standards.

One of their exemplary model is the Levin Headsets that are NJS certified. They still make quality threaded headsets which is super help for us, who carry bike brands such as Rivendell and Crust who would require threaded headsets in the year 2025.
They also have a ton of axle length options for square tapered bottom brackets, which spin very good. Their products are something we need for sure to build our bikes.

I actually think I install at least one Tange BB per day.

The design of the headset is based on an existing model of Tange. Fairweather added some minor new details. The highly rigid aluminum cups, machined by our own CNC technology, are not only light, but also rigid and durable, and of reliable quality.
Their licensed top cap prevents the bearing from dirt, water, dust and other nasty things, making the headsets almost maintenance free.

The bearing are a steel made cartridge bearings that provides smooth steering and longevity. I’ve already installed these headsets on few bikes, but they feel very smooth.

It’s a Tange product, so I know it’s reliable, but it’s cool that they sell repair/replacement parts too.

The round, high stack style of the headsets go well with all sorts of bikes.

The headset body is polished A LOT compared to the original product for both silver and black finishes. You can see your face reflect when getting close to the product.

The upper cup of the headset is a different color on purpose. This adds a bit of character when building the bike.

There are separate upper cups that we sell, so you can make them one color if you prefer it that way.

This top cap is probably my personal favorite part about this product. The original has a printed logo, but this one has their logo carved.

Hmm, by looking at this all day, it made me wanna do something.

What do you think?  It might be a fun little thing to do it yourself. I matched the yellow bar tape for this one.

A little detail that won’t show after installing

“FAIRWEATHER RECONSTRUCTION”

They basically reconstructed a classic model and gave it a different look.

I think these headsets would look excellent on older bike frames as well. How about replacing those old headsets to these?

The brand has been supporting the industry since before we were born and continues to be used by major manufacturers.
The quality that exceeds the price may be the result of the technology and philosophy that Japan prides itself on.

Get your hands on these lovely looking Japanese headsets!
