It’s been a while since I last posted a blog for Blue Lug.

The reason for this is that I have been working at the Bike Friday Tokyo shop that recently opened.

I still work at the Yoyogi-park store, so come say hi!

In other news, some anodized XC-III pedals have restocked.

These pedals have become one of our classics at this point, but these were actually sourced from the XC-II, iconic pedals from Suntour.

The original pedals were produced during the 70s-80s MTB boom. (I wasn’t born yet) They ended up becoming super popular in the BMX scene. MKS were the people who were manufacturing the pedals for Suntour back then.

Suntour unfortunately went out of business, and the XC-II pedals had become difficult to get. We asked MKS if we can work on a reissued model for the pedals, thus the XC-III was born.

These pedals are great for adding colors to your builds. Putting them on vintage MTBs are also very nice, like Isshu with his Kelly.

My personal Blue Lug build with these pedals is this one🙋‍♂️

I was not a fan of color parts, but this build made me change my mind.

They can look insanely good when done properly.

One more thing…

The XC-III is also available in the EZY Superior platform, which has detachable spindles for making bike travels easier.

A new color-way, all black has arrived.

You can remove the pedals in a snap, so it makes it easier for us to take the train with your bike in Japan.

I took this pic the day before I flew to Kagoshima with my bike on May 2023.

As you can see, the pedals stick out from the sides. Not only this will damage your wheels, they will constantly attach your back and legs, which really hurts.

I had the EZY Superior pedals on my Brompton. I thought that these pedals were really great, I felt like there are many more possibilities on full sized bikes too.

If you and your friend get the same pedals in different colors, you can trade your color for the day (or forever).

This article on The Radavist was very interesting. They had compared the original and the reissues which you can read below.

RADAVISTXC-II & XC-III

They are now all up on the online store!
