Wombat Check
*CRUST BIKES* wombat (M/Custom Paint)
Custom painted by Cook Paint Works. The owner could ride both medium or large frame size, but went with medium.
Sage-ish green with yellow classic Wombat logo. It turned out to be a lovely and sort of a nostalgic color scheme.
This build by Tani was definitely an inspiration.
Nitto Jam-Bars of course.
The customer saw Samba’s Wombat build and realized that they needed the Jam-Bars for their own build.
These bars are great because you can angle it up for a shreddy feel, or you can face it close to horizontal for a relaxed position.
Nice chrome polish to add a cruisy vibe.
Other than the bars being polished, we used some more polished parts to put together this bike.
Velocity Cliffhanger rims. Pretty much the only option for a Wombat build, but I love it and so did the owner.
Paul Disc Word Hub from the Straggler they were originally riding.
Max also had a disc hub on his Joe Appaloosa. I asked him why and he told me that he had a plan of building an MTB, but didn’t happen for multiple reasons, but he already had bought the hub, so we used it on the Appaloosa build. I think using disc hubs on rim brake bike has to have some kind of reason like this. Like, it’s lame if you purposely use them.
More polished bits.
I love that Paul makes these cool adjusters with sick colors.
Shimano DXR V-brakes, which were originally BMX racing brakes. These are the only V-brakes from Shimano that are polished finish, but they are now discontinued. What a shame.
I like swapping the brake shoes to Kool Stop Thinlines.
I just like these kinds of logos. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’ just that I love cool fonts.
Some black bits are used here and there as well.
Middleburn RS8 X-type cranks from the UK. They are hollow tech cranks, meaning that they are compatible with 73mm BB shells.
Love these cranks. Chainring is Stridsland of course and some Phil Wood bottom brackets for the cherry on top.
Love this build so much. It took so much time to get to the build, but I think it was totally worth the wait.

The reason why the owner decided to get the Wombat was the cover of Calling In Sick Magazine issue 12.
We’re always inspired by what Adam does with Calling In Sick Magazine and the how the Geno boys ride!
Here’s my Florida Man wit the Jam-Bars
Come test ride it!
