For those of you don’t know, we have three Blue Lug stores in Tokyo and one in Kagoshima.

Kagoshima is a prefecture about 1300km down south from Tokyo. At the southern tip of mainland Japan, Kagoshima Prefecture is nicknamed the “Naples of the East” for its bay and comfortable climate. The prefecture is incredibly active geologically and is home to the great volcanoes of Mt. Kirishima and Mt. Sakurajima.

Around this time of the year, the local artists and creators get together and holds a massive event.

The name of the event is called Ash Design & Craft Fair. Here is the description of the event from their website.

——————————–

Even when traveling to the same destination, a slight change in the places you stop by can dramatically change the excitement of your trip.
It is the open choices of restaurants, inns, and stores that add color to travel and living and create the richness of a town.
In order to savor the richness of a town, it is important to know which choices to encounter and how to choose them.

Today’s meal and attire, the dishes on your table, the pictures in your room, and the music that plays there.
Presentations by artists and stores to add color to your daily life.
The 17th “Ash Design & Craft Fair” will be held.

Now, there are makers and craftspeople who are based in the countryside but are active nationwide,
More stores than ever are choosing to operate in the suburbs rather than in the center of the city.
They are distancing themselves from efficiency and fast currents, and evolving in their own unique way with a life-size sensibility,
They may be the ones to show us a new view of the country.

There will be 74 venue/galleries and over 100 creators who will be attending this massive event, and we will be one of them.
