Let’s do an overhaul of an MKS pedal.

*There some some models (the ones with sealed bearings) that are not suitable for overhauls.*

。First, let’s take off the cap. The cap for this pedal is just sitting there. You can take it off easily. Try not to scratch up the cap too much.

If you get to this point, you should be able to see the 10mm lock nut. Take this 10mm lock nut off and now you should be able to see the 13mm cone nut. Now, Loosen the cone nut with your hands.

Now clean the cup and bearings for both sides of the pedals. If you are a perfectionist, a polisher wouldn’t hurt.

Now let’s clean all of the rest.

After you are finished, you just have to do the same thing backwards and the pedal is back to how it was, but cleaner. Make you grease up each of the parts when putting back together.

Adjusting the bearing balls might be a bit tricky, but that’s also the fun part. Don’t ya get excited to be doing what MKS employees do?

MKS forever.
