The first bike I got after joining Blue Lug was the Surly Straggler.

Shamy built it for me, so I always ask him to work on it. (Thank you Shamy🙇)

I had the Straggler turn into a puppy hauler three years ago, when I welcomed my pet dog into the family🌟
It’s like a dream come true that I can transform my bike to suit my current lifestyle just by customizing the parts, without having to replace the frame itself. It makes me feel even more attached to it, and it’s economical too, which is a huge help. Since I was at it, I had the frame repainted as well.
The handlebar choice is very important, and difficult at the same time when it comes to building a pup hauler. I had a hard time deciding which handlebar to use.
From what I’ve heard, most dogs sit still in the Milk Crate while they ride, but my dog would often spin around in circles whenever we’re riding, so it’s sometimes hard to control.
I talked about that to Shamy and he mentioned that a bar swap might do the trick, so I tried a lot of different handlebars.
I hope this post will help others who are dealing with the same kind of issue.

Like I said, I’ve tried so many bars, but I think I found my favorite💯
I did like a flatter bar, but I personally wanted a handlebar that I can ride relaxed and is easy to handle when my dog is going in circles. And the fourth handlebar I tried was perfect.
I got interested in these handlebars when I saw this bike that Chuyan built.
This is just my opinion, so I know it doesn’t apply to everyone, but this is my final answer!

Whether I’m riding alone or with my dog, I’m really enjoyed riding my Straggler, and lately I’ve been riding it all the time. Plus, it can carry a ton of stuff!
This should make riding with my dog even more enjoyable♡
