I noticed some people who are using the ponchos are not covering their handlebars with the bottom hem of the ponchos.
↓Like this, the handlebar is exposed.
Hanging the hem over the handlebar keeps your feet dry and prevents the fabric from flapping around, making it much more comfortable to wear.
When doing this, make sure to unbutton the side buttons completely. This reduces tension in the fabric and allows air to circulate, preventing heat from building up and keeping you comfortable. This also helps prevent the inside from getting wet due to condensation.
Just changing how you wear it makes a big difference in comfort, so I highly recommend giving this method a try.
First, unbutton all the side buttons
Don’t forget to put the elastic loop around your thumbs too.
Then, straddle your bike
Now, put the hem over the handlebar
You should be able to cover wide bars around 700mm and still sit up.
Then, grasp the handlebar by putting your hands inside the hem that is covering the handlebar.
This is how you should look like when riding.
In the photo, the fabric looks a bit bunched up in the front, but don’t worry. You can use the side drawstrings to smooth it out. Oh, and by the way, you can wear your backpack over this without any issues.
I am wearing a medium size in the picture.
Start your poncho life!
