“Baka Na Tabibito” (Stupid Tourist)
Hi, Cent from Blue Lug Yoyogi-park here.
I currently own 7 to 8 ridable bikes. I’ve ridden many more bikes than that, but my new bike is somthing completely new to me.
I couldn’t get this bike off from my mind. It had all the elements that I love on a bike so I had to get this one! It didn’t matter that I already have so many.
Here’s what the frame looks like.
Many of you may already have been interested in this frame.
It doesn’t necessarily feel right to call this bike a “mini-velo”, but small wheel bikes have been becoming the new hot thing recently and I wanted to hop on the “trend”
Velo Orange came out with the Neutrino in 2018. These guys were way ahead of time! The 20″ Falconer was also insane.
Many other brands started to release the same type of bikes after, but they really didn’t catch my attention. I’ve rode BMX from my early teens, so I think I my expectation for 20″ wheel bikes were quite high.
Then, My favorite bike brand, Crust slapped me in the face with a ground breaking mni-velo frame. There were no reason for me to pass on this one.
This is my Crust Bikes Stupid Tourist.
*CRUST BIKES* stupid tourist canti brake (S)
First and foremost, the frames are available in the canti version and the disc version. I chose the canti model.
Choosing parts for this bike was so fun.
White frame color with pink, purple, and yellow speckled all over. It looks really good with colorful parts, so I built this one up with a lot of colors for the first time in many years.
Red headset with a blue cable hanger. I put the bike together with new and old parts that I owned. This is a perfect way to use canti brakes that are just lying in the parts box.
New *CRUST BIKES* dynamo&rim brake 20″ wheelsets.
This is the biggest part I bought for this build, other than the frame. The wheelsets are available in rim brake and disc brake.
These wheelsets are light and sounds good. I don’t have anything to complain.
This specific bike was designed to travel, but it’s works really well as a bike to get around daily, so putting dynamo lights make sense.
Cyber Cranks and Chris King BB that I didn’t use to top off the build.
This is a 20 inch wheel bike that has the Ritchey Break-Away System. It’s more than a commuter than a bike to get rad on.
Crust is a brand that has a BMX back ground, but I love that they made a bike less ideal for tricks. If you wanna do tricks, get a BMX.
I personally do not no if I would use the Break-Away system, but I’ll just have it up my sleeve as a secret move.
The bike apparently fits in a suite case like the image above. Again, I don’t know if I’d be traveling, but things are going to be fun and easier if I am.
I know I said this bike isn’t for tricks, but I didn’t say I wouldn’t do them.
I’m very stoked on Crust’s first 20 inch bike. I love how it looks, love how it rides, and love that I can now travel with a bike. I now have 5 Crust bikes. Could I be the person who owns the most Crust bikes in the world?
Come and see and ride the bike at the Yoyogi-park store!
