A Promise With Ming
Ming and I had promised to go bike camping regularly. We just wanted to go out and ride our bikes monthly. I’m hoping we can make this a thing.
Max and Sub had also joined us for this trip.
I would often ride my Crust Bikes Evasion, but thought I’d mix things up for this ride, so I took my Rivendell Clem Smith Jr.
This was my first time taking my Clem to a camp ride, so I was excited.
The Clem Smith Jr. is a unique bike from Rivendell that can fit MTB tires on a step-through style frame. It can be a comfy commuter and can even be a touring bike.
I went with a pannier bag set up for this trip. A set of big pannier that is. I put the 3 rail rack from Pass And Stow. This rack is clutch when carrying beers for the night. It’s always great to bring extra Voile Straps for this type of occasions. There’s no such thing as too many Voile Straps.
The saddle bag is the Swift Industries Zeitgeist. Man, I love this bag so much. Check their restocked bags now!
Here’s all my gear for this trip.
I knew it was going to snow the next day we arrive, but I didn’t think it would be this much snow.
Thankfully, I was prepared for the snow. I brought a pair of puffer pants and hard shell rain pants to keep my self warm and dry. I bring these two regardless of the weather just in case,
Here’s what my bike looks like.
I was mostly riding this rackless/basketless, but a Rivendell with full load looks nice.
I ride a size 45. I like riding Rivendells with lower saddle height. I have mine set up to 650mm saddle height, and the Zeitgeist was very close to rubbing on the rear tire.
*OCEAN AIR CYCLES × NITTO* erlen saddle bag support are essensial for a short rider like me. This makes it possible to attach larger saddle bags onto smaller frames. The Erlen Saddle Bag Support had restocked as well.
Can’t forget about the the double Nalgene bottle too.
I love riding with friends and I love camping with friends. We chatted about bikes, the recent dates we went to and more random stuff. It’s good to spend time like this with colleges, since this is how we come up with new ideas of products.
Ming’s Evasion Trail 140 was crisp.
Sub brings new camping gear every trip we go on.
All the guys except myself had the *FAIRWEATHER* handlebar bag ADV. The huge bag seemed perfect for this trip. I recommend having a drop bar wider than 460mm if you want to run drops.
Where should we go this month…
