Here at the Hatagaya store, we have the Rivendell Reader 42.

There are PDF versions of 42 and 43 on the internet, but it seems like there are a few differences in the contents to the physical copy,

This is why I love Rivendell.

If we were to categorize the various bicycles on the market under the term “road bike,” the Roadini is the closest position within the brand’s lineup. The new batch of Rivendell has just arrived, so I thought of posting this blog.

This bike is actually popular among Blue Lug staffs, so I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce it once again.

Domestic shipper  – “Peak”
Height : 175cm/5ft7
PBH : 80cm
Frame Size : 54

Peak rides the 2018 model, which I think maybe from the first batch? Anyways, he’s owned and ridden the Roadini the longest among our staff members. The previous Roadinis didn’t have lugs, so his Roadini has a smaller tire clearance than the current lugged Roadinis.

The fact that he’s never once gone all out and just cruising around town in a casual style, which could be called “loose” in a negative sense, or “lowkey” in a positive one. This exactly why, as a fellow staff member, I can’t help but sense that this is truly Peak at his best.

“I don’t usually wear bright-colored clothes, and maybe it’s a reaction to my preference for safe, neutral colors, but I actually really like this orange,” he says.

The shift lever for the FD is placed on the downtube and the lever for the rear is installed on the right side of his handlebar. We learned about this set up from Rivendell.

Open your eyes!!

Stock Control Captain – “Nectar”
Height : 171cm/5ft6
PBH : 79cm
Frame Size : 50

Nectar’s Roadini is from a year ago.

Nectar got to meet Grant and Will when the two visited the Blue Lug warehouse, which is where he usually works. He says that he had to get the bike after meeting them and wanting their bike for a long time.

He used his old parts for the most part of the build. The rear spacing of this frame being 130mm, it surely makes it easy to swap parts from road bikes and cross bikes that you already have, which is always a plus.

Super errand boy – “Chuyan” (me)
Height : 181cm/5ft9
Frame Size 54

My work style has changed from this year and there are days that I would go to the warehouse and the Kamiuma store, so there are more times I’m on my Roadini.

I put on fenders, so that I can ride any day, 39C tires and drop bar so I can ride through the rough concrete of Koshu-Kaido pretty quick. Dynamo lights are probably my top priority in building commuter bikes, over fenders and a kickstand.

I sometimes want to ride a classic European steel road bike, but I love America!

Store Manager (Kamiuma) – Tani
Height : 173cm/5ft6
PBH : 83cm
Frame Size : 50

Tani, he is the master of Rivendells here.

Tani probably has most Riv models that are currently available. His Roadini is built with two key elements, light and fast in mind. The Albastache bars are always pleasant to look at. We built our Roadinis around the same time, but I feel like Tani’s has more beausage. This is what the Riv master is capable of.

One thing they all have in common is that all four of them are undoubtedly the kind of staff members who would answer “NO” to at least five of the questions posed at the beginning.

The two colors of the 2026 Roadinis are : Sergio Green and Dark Orange. No changes in the tire clearance, but they now have pump pegs on the seat stay. The size options are now from 50 and all the sizes take 700C wheels.

Max tire clearance is 43C and 35-38C with fenders. Riv recommends tires over 35C. Rear spacing is 130mm.

(This is Roman’s Roadini as seen on their website)

No different in sizes from the last batch.

・50cm = 79-84cm PBH, 78cm standover
・54cm = 83-88cm PBH, 81.7cm standover
・57cm = 86-91cm PBH, 84.5cm standover
・61cm = 90-97cm PBH, 88.5cm standover

When I think of Rivendell when I see the phrase “Memories Over Records” from old Blue Lug merch. It’s a phrase I really love, but when it comes to business or sports, as cruel as it may be, results and records are sometimes what matter.

“What’s this all about all of a sudden?” you might ask. Well, we just lost to Brazil in World Cup. But, I really want to say that they played really good and I really enjoyed watching.

Mkay, that’s it for today.
