Restock : Profile Racing
Hey! This is Jackie from Kamiuma and I got some hot news!
We just got a big restock of Profile Racing products.

Profile Racing is a bicycle component brand that mainly makes BMX and MTB parts.
Since their foundation in 1968, they have been producing traditional parts and components to match new market needs, all in USA.

Their brand is full of history, while being a core and low-key brand. I think they’re parts work like a nice spice for making stylish bikes even more stylish.
I’d like to share this photo of Tom La Marche’s new bike. It’s called the Phat Track and fits 700x45C tires. I’d love to write more about the bike, but I won’t do that today. However, I do want you to pay closer attention to the rear hub.

This is the type of spice that need on your bike.
You can really sense his background as a legendary trick rider.
Okay, let’s get into business.

*PROFILE RACING* elite mtb hub
Features 6 pawl drivers for 204 points. You can achieve a BMX-like hub sound and a direct and instant feel of pedaling.
This is one of my favorite bike parts and I have it on my Omnium Mini-Max.
The Omnium’s front wheel is farther than normal size bikes, which sometimes feel sketchy on blind intersections, so having a loud hub sometimes help others to know I’m there.
I thought that the front hubs will go through much more stress from the bag rack, I chose the 36H hubs for the front wheel, when building this cargo bike.
36H 20″ wheels look super tough and cool.
Alright, back to the rear hub.
I’m going to take apart the free body and check out the inside of these hubs. Let’s see what makes those loud sounds shall we?

The freebody can be removed easily by hand.

The end caps that are fixing the freebody will come apart as well. This is all tool less, so the maintenance is pretty easy.

Those 68 small ratchets in the hub.
It’s a little hard to see, but there’s a diagonal groove carved into the jagged edge that serves as a guide when reinserting the free body.

こWithout this feature, you have to reset the hub by fully pressing down on all the pawls at once, which is quite a hassle, but with this hub, you can reset it easily just by hand.

There are 6 pawls in the free body.
In other words, the design features two claws engaging with each notch, resulting in 204 engagement points—three times the number of notches (68). There is an engagement point every 1.76° of hub rotation. (Even White Industries, often praised for its precision, only offers 48 points—7.5°.)
A high number of notches reduces play, allowing power to be transmitted the moment you press the pedal. This minimal play is the very essence of this hub.
The source of that fine, grinding roar lies in the precise serrations and claws, as well as the meticulous calculations that ensure they engage at different timings.

*PROFILE RACING* helm mtb stem
This HELM STEM is a must-have in the Profile Racing’s lineup.
It’s machined from 7075 aluminum, known as “ultra-durable duralumin.”
In other words, it’s incredibly stiff and strong.
It’s built to withstand MTB downhill and extreme freeride riding.

I used it on the CRUST STUPID TOURIST.

Short stems looks sick on mini-velos. The 20″ wheels make it look like a BMX, which is a perfect aesthetic for Profile Racing parts.

The solid style and the laser etchings makes the stem look really nice from all angles.
The edges of the load-bearing sections are thickly reinforced, resulting in a design that combines strength with lightness.

Black & silver – that has been sold out for quite a while – had restocked, with the new red and gold color.

*PROFILE RACING* bsa 30mm outboard bb
Needless to say, the BB – which supports your feet with its highly durable body and high-speed bearings from ENDURO – is also back in stock in a variety of colors.
These are the cranks I recommend using with those Bottom Brackets.

*PROFILE RACING* elite AL MTB crank
Made with 2024 aluminum (same material as Paul Components), the cranks are ideal for aggressive riding, such as downhill MTB, dirt jumps, and free rides

The crank arms are super fat, but the backside is hollowed for making them lighter.
It comes preloaded, making installation and setup a breeze.
For traditional use, it’s perfect for bikes like my dirt jumper, the *CRUST BIKES* DEAD SAILOR, of course.
(Handmade aluminum dirt jumper DEAD SAILOR—the M-size low-profile model is sold out even in the U.S., but we actually have the very last one in stock at Kamiuma Store.)
*STRIDSLAND*BEACHCOMBER
It brings out the full potential of the sturdy frame while giving it a tech-inspired look.
*CRUST BIKES* EVASION
Profile: A combination of Profile’s stock Elite AL SINGLE spider and the *STRIDSLAND* narrow-wide chainring.
This spider is compatible with the SRAM 8-bolt standard (94 PCD) and can be used with other manufacturers’ 8-bolt cranks, such as the *CANE CREEK* eeWings 8-bolt MTB crank.
*CRUST BIKES*EVASION TRAIL140
They look so good on bikes with thick tubings.
Minami, BLUE LUG’s top FGFS rider, also uses this crankset on his BEACHCOMBER.
He puts it through its paces every day with jump tricks and other maneuvers, and says, “First off, the overwhelming stiffness gives me a sense of security, and the lack of flex translates to direct bike control. To put it mildly, it’s the best!!”

This high-performance crankset is sure to get me thinking about my next build.
To overcome fear and hesitation, the first step is to use parts you can trust.

↑ An ELITE crankset on a handmade bike—specifically, a hardtail from SSS, aka Slow Southern Steel Fab. It looks absolutely gorgeous.

*PROFILE* cars re-pop cap
Last but not least, hats!
Profile Racing was actually a car chassis manufacturer when they were foudned.

This is a throwback hat with their logo patch sewed on.

With its deep fit and adjustable strap, it fits snugly even if you’re worried about your head size.
We hope you’ll wear it until it’s worn out and enjoy that authentic vintage feel.

Since PROFILE RACING is committed to producing 100% USA-made products, our production runs are necessarily limited. As a result, once an item is out of stock, there is a longer lead time before it becomes available again.
We encourage you to check out our lineup while it’s still in stock.
The products featured here have already arrived at all Blue Lug locations—and, of course, they’re available in our online store as well!
Thank you for reading.
