I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since the Kagoshima trip.

“Holy cow!!”

Wentz and I were excited to see the volcano erupt right in front of us. However, it is just another day for the Kagoshima locals.  As a matter of fact, it was something annoying to them since they couldn’t dry their laundry outside.

Anyhow, thank you to everyone who showed up to the Kagoshima Rivendell Meet Up.

I’m always afraid of people not showing up to events, but so many people from various areas visited us and I couldn’t be more happier, so thank you.

The Rivendell ferry take-over was awesome. Even the crew members of the ferry was laughing.

The huge group ride was also fantastic!

Rivendells are the best. The ride feels incredibly comfortable, whether we’re riding together as a group or I’m out on my own.

Go check this post for more photos.

The main topic of this blog is about the new Sackville and Rivendell soft goods

The long anticipated Rollo Handlebar Bag has finally arrived from Sackville.

This bag was seen on Grant’s yellow Charlie Gallop. It has been a while since Sackville had came out with a new bag. It is basically a rack-less handlebar bag.

The capacity of the bag is about the same as a Wald 137 basket. It’s common for these types of bags to be smaller than expectation, but this bag is actually the opposite. It’s surprisingly big enough to just throw in stuff and use it as the main bag.

In my opinion, the bag is not made for “serious bikepacking”. I feel like it’s rather made for our daily lives. There is only the main compartment and two inner pockets, with three color options gray, olive and blue.

By not having the rack and basket, you can lighten the bike, and since it doesn’t take up much space, it’s a great fit for rinkoing.

I removed my M-1B rack and basket from my Rivendell and used the Rollo Bag for the Kagoshima trip.

And just like the other Sackville bag,

You can attach the Kangaroo Pouch on other Sackviile bags.

It works best if you put things you need to grab quickly, like keys and your phone, in the outer pouch, and keep items you’ll only need once you arrive in the main compartment.

I now have the bag on my daily rider Charlie Gallop but,

Hmm, I think they also look great on Hillibikes. Let me borrow this customer’s bike…

Having less weight on the front gives easier handling when you’re riding off-road. This makes it more fun to ride, so I highly recommend the bag for people who are wanting to remove the baskets.

We have more soft goods available…

*RIVENDELL* world champion stripe sticker

If you knew what “basically a pistachio sticker” meant, you’re a BLUE LUG fanatic; if you knew what “not an Arc-en-Ciel, but the early Irish strap color” meant, you’re a Rivendell fanatic.

There’s nothing difficult about it. Just stick them accordingly to the description on the backing paper.

Cover up the seams with a diamond-shaped logo…

And voi la. I put the sticker on my Roadini.

You can put them on where ever really. I bet they look good on toptubes and handlebars. They are one of those stickers that are fun to get creative.

Don’t overthink. Don’t be asshamed even if the sticker is off-centered.

And finally…

*RIVENDELL* north american water bottle

There are three designs: “Single Sheep,” “Sheep all over,” and Atlantis’s “Flying Man” graphic.

The Cheviot used to have a sheep head badge. Grant is a big fan of wool, from sweaters and underwear to, more recently, even grips. “Wool doesn’t kill sheep,” as they say.

I usually buy two of every bottle I like, but this time I bought just one of each design. My collection keeps growing like this… I wonder where I’m going to put them all. But I don’t want to have any regrets.

Aaand…

*RIVENDELL* walletville wallets are restocked.

I use it as a card holder instead of an actual wallet.

Whether you’re a Rivendell rider or not, I hope you find any gear you’d like to add to your bike. The frames are wonderful, of course, but the bags, accessories, and other small items along with the way they’re put together and the overall aesthetic are equally fantastic.

It’s all these elements combined that truly define Rivendell. It’s quirky yet practical, sometimes a bit contrived, but overwhelmingly beautiful.

A bicycle that gets more and more beautiful as its owners take a hands-on approach. I really want both current fans and those who are just discovering them to know about this.

Thank you for reading to the end.

Tani.
