10th anniversary frame by Rivendell

September 8th will Blue Lug Kamiuma’s 13th anniversary.

I thought about saving my words of appreciation until the actual anniversary, but thank you so much to all of the customers who come visit us.

I thank you deeply for making the effort to come to the least accessible location of all three Blue Lug stores in Tokyo.

Back in 2020, I asked Grant Petersen, the founder/owner of Rivendell that, if they would be possible to make a special frame for Blue Lug Kaimuma’s 10th anniversary. They willing accepted our favor.

The frames unfortunately could not make it in time for the 10th anniversary. Since then, I started to wonder if the frame would make it in time for each anniversaries to come, or I would joke that maybe it was just all a dream.

It turns out that it wasn’t a dream after all. The frames are now here in Japan.

The 10th anniversary frame has arrived in the 13th anniversary of Blue Lug Kamiuma and I’m not disappointed at all. I was just happy that Grant-san even said yes to making them. It is a true dream come true moment for me, so I did not even worry about them taking time. It didn’t matter.

Sure, the frames took time to arrive, but there many cool things I got to experience while we waited.

I had the opportunity to ride Shell Ridge with Grant-san himself.

It was great to ride the path that basically is the reason why Rivendell exists and where all their ideas come from.

It all made sense at that moment.

Two of my biggest dreams had come true at this point, so I wasn’t worried if the frames didn’t arrive. I’m more than happy to ride the current Rivendell bikes I own.

However, they arrived,

with the founder himself.

I wanted to Grant-san to tell everybody about the special frames with his own words, while he was in Japan and we were really lucky that actually happened.

This wouldn’t have had happened if the 10th anniv. frames came in time.

I don’t want to promote this frame as “rare” or “hard to get thing”.

I wanted these frames to be something to show our regular customers appreciation and rewards for ourselves for overcoming multiple walls over the years. It is like a bookmark in the History of Blue Lag Kamiuma Store, who learned so much about bicycles from Rivendell.

I want a lot of Rivendell riders to come see the actual frame, touch them, talk about them and smile together.

These are now displayed at Blue Lug Kamiuma.

I’ll make another post about how we’re selling the frames on the 8th, our 13th anniversary.

I absolutely love Rivendell. I know we carry a lot of brands here, but Rivendell is very special to me. I just want to chat with people who love Rivs like myself.
