I designed the B903 Bullmoose Bars about ten years ago.

A huge bike show in North Carolina called NAHBS was held around the same year, which I went and brought a few of the freshly made Bullmoose bars to show people at the event. Yes, I was young.

I remember the people at the Groovy booth and John Prolly from the Radavist  said some nice things about the bars I brought. I even gave one of the handlebar to Mike from Ant Bike. A lot of good memories.

I didn’t realize that we’ve been making these bars for such a long time, and I’d like to thank everybody who are using those bars!

And now, I had the opportunity to design a new size of the Bullmoose Bars. Don’t worry, the production of B903 will still be continued.

The B903 didn’t change one bit for ten years. During the ten years, I would receive some requests of adding some tweaks to the bars, every now and then. The most requests of the tweaks I would receive were the width, reach and angle.

There was a pretty big demand of the bars from overseas, so I totally understand why people asked for these changes, but I did not want to change too much from the B903, so I decided to make a new size for it.

I’ve made the width from 720mm to 750mm.

Extending 3mm sounds easy? No, no no. This was actually the hardest thing to do!

I was told that 720mm was the widest that Nitto can do, but I had Nitto try many different ways of welding and they finally figured out a way to add that 30mm.

Hats off to Nitto’s skill and for not giving up.

Now let’s talk about the reach.

The B903 was designed based on a 90mm stem, when installing on a frame that fits you correctly.

Back then, I designed the bar to be installed on a Surly Cross x Check, so it was fine, but now that we’ve used the bars on many different bikes, I have extended the extension to 10mm and made it as if you are running a flat bar with 100mm stem.

(Some of our mechanics told me to make one with a shorter reach, so I knocked them out)

Moving on to the bar angle!

and this is the B903 Bullmoose.

I didn’t want to just make a “new size” of the bar, so I tweaked the angle of the bar itself. It’s a very minor change, but if you look closely to the grip area, you should be able to spot the difference.

The welding of the steerer clamp is now fillet brazed.

Again, all minor changes, but I think they feel even better now.

Side note.

I’m super stoked to see the Bullmoose bars used by various riders around the world, but I was very honored to see Cooper Ray using the bar in this video. Check it out if you still haven’t!

Thank you Cooper!

Hope y’all can come by the shop and try the bars!
