Working With Crust
Working on a project with Crust made my ride my Bombora a lot.
I started riding it just to get to know the feeling of a Crust bike, but I really got hooked on the Bombora.
Since then, I’ve been spending a lot of money for bike parts and getting heat strokes on my days off. I’m riding crazily like I got possessed by something. My body aches and my wallet keeps getting emptied.
Let’s talk about my love and greed towards this bike in a timeline.
Well, I started off from as a fail. lol
The failure was that I built the bike thinking about convenience too much.
To be more specific, I did not need the front rack and basket, in my opinion.
I believe there are no other bikes that are more comfortable and convenient than that of Rivendell. I wasn’t so sure how to ride the Bombora when I built it up.
The bike ended up being up on the bike rack for many days, so my colleges probably thought I messed up. I felt bad every time I see the bike and I was disappointed in myself for not having the flexibility to be able to ride a bike that is not all about comfort.
I blamed myself for not riding the bike instead of blaming the product, so I decided to rebuild the Bombora focusing on purely riding and it absolutely worked. I was punched in the face by the mermaid.
After receiving that powerful punch, I started riding crazy distances. I was a different person.
I didn’t expect the bike to feel this different by just removing the front rack.
Now for the love story.
I always thought the Bombora was like a jump and playful bike from Crust’s brand image and I was wrong to build it as relaxed as possible. After riding many kilos, I found out that is not the case
Of course it is the most playful bike within all the bikes I have, but I found the bike to be very easy to understand.
On the Bombora, you can enjoy the rigidity and stability of that of a touring bike, while riding pretty quick like a road bike. When you step on the pedal, it rolls as if you stepped on the gas.
The bike can be built up racy like Duncan, or can be built up for just riding for fun like me.
Building it with 700C wheels makes it feel like a bike for on-roads,
but it can also go off-road bikepacking trips with knobby 27.5″ tires.
It sounds like a dream bike, and I think it’s a pretty accurate description. No wonder gravel road bikes have become so popular. I know, I’m late to the party, but I think this is a wonderful concept.
To tell you my honest thoughts, I recommend riding the Bombora without thinking too much. Forget about convenience. Just build it up and start riding. Enjoy the pure joy of riding a bike.
Put the Towel Rack Bar and just ride.
The Bombora gives great stimulation for riders who are a bit too worried about comfort and practicality like myself.
I’m so pumped to ride, I mean RIDE again.
Tommy and Cent sent this pic as I write this blog.
Looks like some exciting stuff from Crust has arrived. Yes, it involves the “project” I mentioned earlier.
Crust may or may not have already posted on their website but it’s all good.
I think we can make the announcement soon.
Bye!
