TRUNK
If you recognize the name “Trunk”, you are probably a longtime Blue Lug follower. Yes, the backpack called Trunk was one of the OG bags that we used to make back then.
I am very happy to announce that they are making a comeback!
I could say that this is the biggest bag we’ve produced. The Trunk is basically like a messenger backpack.
Just like any messenger bags, this Trunk is made with Cordura nylon with tarpaulin lining. The huge capacity of this bag is useful for those of you who need to carry a lot of stuff, or even for traveling.
The main compartment has a roll-top closure, making the bag expandable. I was able to fit a tall plant (with the planter) with the closure opened. I was also able to fit 12 rolls of toilet paper and a few boxes of tissue papers that I bought at the grocery store.
Last year, I tested the prototype during a three-night trip to Kagoshima (by plane) and a business trip to Kyoto (by train). It held all my luggage with extra space to spare, so I could even buy souvenirs on the way back.
Personally, I enjoy train travel, and a backpack-style bag keeps both hands free, giving me greater freedom. Plus, since there are still plenty of stations with only stairs, this kind of large, spacious bag is invaluable for someone like me who wants to move around easily.
Another thing I love about the bag is that its got a ton of pockets.
Here are all the pockets that are featured in this bag…
Two side pockets
– One big pocket on the front with a flap closure
– A zip pocket on the flap
– Organizer pocket inside the front big pocket
– A laptop sleeve in the main compartment
Here are other key features to the bag besides the pockets…
– 1cm thick urethane foam pad on the back
– Side compression belts
– Sub-straps (The two straps on the front are designed to hold items like wheels that don’t fit inside the bag. There is also a buckle at the top of the roll-top closure.)
– Chest straps
– Load lifters (Support strap above the shoulder strap attachment point)
Using the outer straps, you can also secure bigger stuff like wheels or frames that don’t fit inside the bag, there are various ways to use the bag depending on your ideas.
Hope you dig them!
