Mechanic Diary from Blue Lug Kamiuma
Hello! This is Mr. Blue Lug. I work for Blue Lug Kamiuma.
I’m going to write about what we worked on lately.
The Surly Krumpus got the Jones loop H-bar and the Fairweather SAH harness bag.
This is my first time to see this set up, mixed style between the bike packing and the off road touring style.
This looks rad! I would like to try the exact same set up.
I am sometimes asked like “I didn’t get this bike from Blue Lug but can you help me to change some parts?”
Yes, of course! You can bring your bike and we are happy to work on it.
This time, I worked on this single-speed bike. The owner wanted to change the crank.
He wanted to install the Full Speed Ahead crankset, so we had to change the bottom bracket as well.

Boom! The Philwood outboard bottom bracket! This is the best bottom bracket we have.
The owner kept the Paul crankset. This was still in good condition.
A square taper bottom bracket. You can see the square shafts.
The Philwood OBB is for spindle and crank systems.
Putting a lot of the Pilwood waterproof grease.
OBB is a beautiful polish finished.
The is the FSA crankset he brought. We also carry the SRAM Omnium, which is also the external bearing crankset.
I am sure he’ll feel the difference. This should be more stiff and direct feeling.
The Philwood bottom bracket lasts very long and makes your riding smoother.
Please let me know if you need Philwood parts. We are happy to help you out!
