Koma Hack?
Wet season will be over here in matter of weeks, then, a long awaited summer arrives! Summer in Japan is a bit too hot for any cyclist, but it’s the only season when we can ride our bikes for a refreshing splash in a river or the ocean. I hope you will make the best out of this summer by riding out places you wanna go, and with people you wanna be!
In other news, the long awaited Koma lights are back.
They’re one of the most popular original products.
The light is powerful than what you might expect from its tiny aluminium chargeable body with many color to choose from.
And it’s attachable to most bikes, a magical light indeed!
Our staff Aze, found a way to attach the rear KOMA light, right in the middle.
Let us introduce how he did it…
So there’s this weird silver sticker on the back of the Viva seat post, which is a cheap seat post we frequently use for some of our builds…Pretty sure y’all know these seat posts, but do you know there is a tiny hole behind the silver sticker?
By screwing it down with a 4.2mm drill and create a screw thread using a M5 x 0.8 threading tap…
Aaand, it’s on.
It’s a perfect hack for bikes with rear panniers.
Because you can attach the light in a slightly upwards angle, it will be kind custom for car drivers behind you see the light clearly.
Please custom at your own risk, as it’s widening the hole on the aluminum seat post.
Aze, says he hasn’t had any issues with this rig so far.
Gotta say, the rear Koma lights looks pretty good when they’re sitting right in the center of the saddle.
The front light does a pretty good job lighting your surroundings
The same can be said for the rear.
Both front and rear can have both steady and blink lighting.
You can install to most frames with dowels, so I hope you can find the best place to put it!
