On a personal note, I got myself a new bike around the end of last year. It is the Fairweather Dodo that my college Digital designed, which you can read more about HERE.

The full build of my Dodo can be seen OVER HEAR on Flickr

It’s got front and rear dynamo, Nitto M-1B rack with a Wald 137 basket and all fendered up. It’s my first time owning a fender bike so I’m pretty stoked as you can tell by this photo.

My favorite part about the bike is probably the Ritchey top cap that Digital had surprised me with. Not only Digi is the designer of this frame, he is also the one who built this bike for me and he is a BIG Ritchey fan. I had forgotten that I asked Digi to surprise me with any Ritchey component on the build, until I picked up the bike.

I even have a photo of Digital on the top tube, which is another favorite thing about this bike. Shoutout to Isaac from Peace Sports for making these stickers. I’m happy I was finally able to make use of them.

The Dodo frames are currently sold exclusively in-stores at the moment, but shoot us an e-mail at international@bluelug.com if you are interested in them.

Here at Blue Lug, I am sometimes offered to design Blue Lug merch and this is the most recent products I worked on. I have zero knowledge in photoshop or that sort of “magicery”, so I don’t actually do the designing, but I get to pitch some goofy ideas like this to our product designers and they just nail it every time.
Anyways, these sweatshirts and bottles are dedicated to those who grew up playing video games in the early 2000s, when companies were producing loads of extreme sport themed games. You’re a real one if you get the reference.
Now that I’m in my early thirties, I’m starting to develop fear towards injuries, despite spending most of my late teenage years and early twenties skateboarding. Back then, I didn’t care too much about getting hurt, since I had less responsibility and it happened so often.
As time goes by, there were more things that I need to deal with in life. Time is very limited nowadays and I started lose the excitement of putting myself in slightly dangerous situations.
I used to feel ashamed of myself for not being able to just say “screw it” and just see what happens, like I would in my skating days whenever I went mountain biking with the Blue Lug crew last year. I did eventually get over it, thinking it was a process of growing up and decided to embrace it.

I don’t have to get massive air or bomb a hill super fast. I can still get a small adrenaline rush just by riding in the trails. It’s okay to “half send”. Sure, if you have the skills to go all out and not get hurt, that’s wonderful, but not everybody is like that. The important thing is that I’m having fun.

Like I said, time is limited, so I want to play things within my physical and mental boundaries. If that makes sense. With all that being said, I just thought it was funny to have the words “Half Send” in a MTB themed merch, where most of them are braggy messages about how crazy their stunts are.

We’ve made grey and brown sweatshirts,

And 26oz bottles by Specialized.

All the Half Send MTB products are now online. Hope you get a kick out of it.

I’m also working on hats at the time, which I think will arrive next month. Stay tuned for that too!

Half send all day baby!

✌️
