Have you watched the video?

I went back to my home town in Kagoshima last month and visited Rockpoint Coffee, who I would alway visit when I go back home to shoot a YouTube video

ROCKPOINT COFFEE

You can see the shop in the video, but I’ll post some photos of the shop here.

The coffee shop is located in a minute walking distance from Sasanuki Station in Kagoshima. They are located 8km away from Blue Lug Kagoshima.

Rockpoint Coffee opened on June of 2020, so it’s almost their fifth anniversary.

The first time I met Iwasaki-san, the owner of Rockpoint was October 29th 2022, the day that Blue Lug Kagoshima opened. He visited us with one of the bikes in the video and I was very surprised to see such a cool bike at my hometown.

Ever since meeting Iwasaki-san, I would always go the Rockpoint for some coffee, whenever I make myself down to Kagoshima., and I always wanted to do a bike check video with his bike.

I’m very happy that one my dreams came true. I also love the fact that bicycles were one of the reasons he started a coffee shop.

You can see a lot of bike related knickknacks inside his shop, along with some cool art pieces. The shop feels like a secret hide out but still cozy. I can easily spend hours here.

Bike check!

Specialized Ground Control FSR

This apparently is a bike Iwasaki-san  bought when he was about 20 years old.

He bought the bike when he moved from Miyazaki to Kagoshima.
Kagoshima is known for it’s nature surrounding the prefecture, so he got the bike to enjoy the adventures in the wilderness on the weekends.

He would go down hilling on his days off, but the bike eventually got stripped to the frame.

A few years later, the bike was reborn with the help of the Crust Clydesdale Cargo Fork, when Iwasaki-san had opened his own coffee shop.

The milk crate was installed when Iwasaki-san came to visit Blue Lug Kagoshima on the opening day. The bike just had the cargo fork without the crate back then.

He kept the original Specialized Cranks from when he bought it.

A magical fork that brings back life to an unused bike frame.

Take a look at your garage and look for a frame you haven’t ridden in a long time, but haven’t thrown away.
Maybe it’s a good frame to turn it into a Cargo Bike?

Huge thank you to Iwasaki-san for having us.

I really hope you can visit his shop if you go to Kagoshima. I highly recommend their latte.
