Hey! It’s Ming from Blue Lug Hatagaya!

We got some cool apparels from a cool bike shop.

GRELINS BICYCLE EMPORIUM

Gremlins is a bike shop located in London, Ontario Canada.

Jake from BoneshakerMTB introduced me to Mason, who is one of the members of Gremlins. We started talking through the internet and got along quickly and now, we are carrying their merch at Blue Lug!

They gave us a full introduction to their shop, so I will share them below.

Gremlins Bicycle Emporium was born in Carson Lessif’s garage-workshop in London, Ontario in 2020. He started out by servicing bikes in the London and Toronto areas, then grew to selling second hand refurbished bikes across Ontario. The original Gremlins team found each other organically. Originally friends and roommates working at the same outdoor gear store- Carson,

Aaron and Mason formed a connection surrounding their shared love for cycling, outdoors, and mechanics.

We opened up our first shop to the public in 2021 offering refurbished bikes for sale and tune up services. We also started our Gremlins Thursday Night Group Ride during the Spring of 2021- a leisurely group bike ride riding through a different part of London each week. We quickly found our niche in high-end and collectable vintage restorations. We enjoy riding around, meeting new people, and getting to know each other over food and drinks afterwards.

Wyatt, Mateus, and Evan joined the team in late 2021 as our shop got busier and busier. Each one of us brings a different interest to the team. Carson loves shredding downhill mountain bikes, riding the kookiest bikes he can find, and cruising down to the river to fish. Aaron loves freewheels and 80s rigid mountain bikes. Mason enjoys long distance ‘randonneur’ road rides and taking photos of his travels. Wyatt enjoys curating parts for different custom builds and playing bike polo at the local Forest City Bike Polo club. Mateus enjoys riding around to stargaze, collecting steel track bikes and playing Magic: The Gathering. Evan enjoys riding around town looking for cool places to have a campfire and forage for mushrooms. Collectively, the team spends most of their free time camping, fishing, and bike touring together. We all share a love for vintage bikes, cycling history, and the culture that surrounds bicycles.

We moved into our flagship brick and mortar store located at 623 Richmond St. downtown London, Ontario in the spring of 2023. We have expanded extensively to carry a wide range of new road, mountain, commuter, track, and e-bikes from Cannondale, Cinelli, Brodie, Soma and more as well as continue to refurbish vintage bikes and provide top notch service and repairs specializing in vintage restorations.

Some of our favourite things about owning a bike shop are the activities we get to do. We enjoy hosting and attending races around Ontario, testing new bikes and gear, and organizing events for the community. We came up with the idea for The Vintage Mountain Bike Show which we have hosted 2 years in a row in partnership with BoneshakerMTB(a Canadian cycling club based in Toronto, ON). This show has featured over 80 ultra rare vintage mountain bikes from collectors around Ontario showcasing the quality, craftsmanship, and design that we love. Being from the same province, we have collaborated with Jake & BoneshakerMTB on group rides and events over the years. Jake also introduced us to the Blue Lug team!

Gremlins strives to promote cycling as an excellent form of exercise, transportation, and way of life for everyone, as well as a positive and inclusive environment for the community. We believe cycling benefits a wide variety of things such as mental health, physical conditioning, critical thinking skills, leadership skills, and environmental impacts.

I really love how they support the local bike community and how they work in this industry. They started as a vintage bike store, but they now carry more new stuff as well. I love that they have Stridsland stuff!

The shop is operated by unique individuals who all have unique ways of enjoying bicycles. Mason who loves Rando rides, told me that he recently went on a 432km/2h ride. He said he had fun. (I cannot do anything like that)

They post cool blogs and reports of their activities and have really good content on their IG. I highly recommend checking their stuff out!

Long sleeve tech-tees! We love them! They dry quick and protect your skin from the sun. They’re lightweight and wearable throughout the year.

As the product name “MTBMX Jersey” suggests, the fit of the shirt is relaxed, making it great for playful riding, hiking, outdoor activities and even great for wearing daily, thanks to the sick graphic done by Hugo Bernier.

I knew of Hugo and his work from different projects he worked on so I was super stoked when I heard he designed the tech-tees for Gremlins.

Now, I’d like to share some photos that Mason sent us and some explanation about the tech-tees.

We wanted to produce a long sleeve tech shirt for cycling, fishing, and hanging out outside. We wanted to incorporate a natural aspect to the design as we spend most of our free time(and some of our working time) outside in nature.

We have admired Hugo Bernier’s artwork for many years and were excited to collaborate on a project with him. He brought a unique graphic style to the project which complimented our earthy design objective. He is also interested in similar bikes as we are so the collaboration was easy and fun. We bonded over references from historic Canadian bike manufacturers and continue to update each other on progress with our own bike builds.

The material we chose for the shirt is a SPF-rated moisture-wicking polyester that is comfortable and breathable. It dries quickly and is lightweight. We are focussing more on local manufacturers when possible. The shirts are cut and sewn about 2 hours from our shop in London, ON, keeping most of the process to make these shirts within Canada!

The photos and write up are amazing.

The shirts are made in Ontario,Canada🇨🇦

They are available in S-XL. I recommend choosing same size as your t-shirts that you normally wear. If you want more of a sporty look, go one size down.

We even have more stuff!

and some cool sticker packs with a cool package!

That was a long post! I’m super stoked for our partnership with Gremlins!
