The Life As A Bike Shop Employee (Behind The Scenes)
I’ve worked at Blue Lug for 4 years now and this is what I have to go through.
Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Shin also known as “The Colonel”. I may have talked you through email or in person at the Hatagaya store.
You may be wondering how I ended up in the situation in the picture above…
The answer to that is simple, it was for a photo shoot of our latest sweatshirt,
*BLUE LUG* BG donuts sweat (brown)
Here’s the outcome…
The life of a bike shop employee ain’t easy y’all.
Jokes aside, we always have fun shooting all the product photos.
Here’s our two photographers prepping for the shoot. I didn’t know that I was going to be the model when I took this picture.
These types of behind the scene stuff is always fun to me. I enjoy looking at behind the scene stuff of my interest, so I figured I’d try posting some behind the scenes of Blue Lug.
(As seen on Will’s Weekly News Letters)
I had fun hanging out with Will and his wife, Rachel. What’s even more awesome is that Platyjo and Sterling, two bay area locals who are friends with Will & Rachel, who you can see in the back were in town at the same time, so they joined us on the ride.
Fun times. I gotta make it to the bay area soon.
Right after Will and Rachel left Japan, James and Grace (“Games” as Isaac from Peace Sports would call them) arrived in Japan.
I got to cruise around my neighborhood with them. They were both on Clems🫶

Speaking of Peace Sports, Isaac is also coming to Japan pretty soon with Yuta-san from The Inconvenience Store for an event called Ash Design & Craft in Kagoshima. It’s an event where a lot of artists gather and show case their work.
Our exhibit in Blue Lug Kagoshima will be held from November 23rd and 24th. If you happen to be in the area, come check out the event!
Back to more BTS.
Aro the photographer shooting Da Nitto Boyz.
The hoodies should be back on the website pretty soon.
This is Melo, one of our newer staffs who is an ex-bike messenger packing up Middleburn Cranks into individual boxes.
The Middleburn parts are fully restocked and are up online .
Here’s a beautiful Stump Jumper I saw at the Hatagaya store last Sunday.
It had the Stridsland Barnacle Fork + small Stridsland bits, Paul brakes, Ringle parts, and more sick ass parts.

The Stridsland bits reminded me of this meme I saw earlier this week. (Don’t get me wrong, I really love the build)
Have you already watched this video? It’s got Eng. subtitles!
I got to visit Marmalade for the first time with my friend/coworker Ming.
Ming helped Hiro, the owner of the shop fix a flat for his Soma San Marcos.
Go watch the video if you still haven’t!
Blue Lug Garage Sale was crazy but a huge success.
Check out the line that goes all the way back. We did expect that it was going to be a huge event, but we did not think it was going to be this intens to be honest
Thank you all for showing up and sorry we had to make you wait for a long time. Not sure when the next one will be, but we’ll do better next time!
HUGE props to
Yum
and Ming for leading the event.
And also Sayako for making delicious coffee and treats for the people who showed up to the event.
