Plus, it offers excellent grip!<\/p>\n<p>The 40c version of the R Series, the lightest model in Panaracer\u2019s Gravel King weighs just 400g.<br \/>\nI was surprised by how light it is, especially since even the Barlow Pass 38c with an Extralight casing from Reneherse Cycles which I thought was quite light, weighs 350g.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-172883\" src=\"https:\/\/bluelug.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_3800.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1664\" height=\"1664\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluelug.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_3800.jpg 1664w, https:\/\/bluelug.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_3800-1280x1280.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/bluelug.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_3800-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1664px) 100vw, 1664px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s even crazy is that the actual weight of it was 335g!<\/p>\n<p>Now, there is a downside to such a light tire and that would be the durability.<\/p>\n<p>After a year of use, the sidewalls start to fray, increasing the risk of a flat, and cracks begin to appear in the tread, which is a clear sign it\u2019s time for a replacement.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"*CRUST BIKES* bombora celos (S)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bluelug\/54653623636\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54653623636_a832e30b83_b.jpg\" alt=\"*CRUST BIKES* bombora celos (S)\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>You can also run them tubeless, but because they\u2019re so thin, they tend to lose air easily. As long as you\u2019re prepared for unexpected issues on the road and can check the tire pressure regularly, you should be fine.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re concerned about that, I recommend using them with an inner tube.
