They raced as Team Blue Lug, and I went there as a supporter and photographer.<br \/>\n<a title=\"RHC2018\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bluelug\/40227935440\/in\/album-72157693553435822\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/961\/40227935440_254b38b6ce_o.jpg\" alt=\"RHC2018\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe Red Hook Crit first started as an illegal criterium race thrown by David Trimble to celebrate his 26th birthday. It was like no permit, no sponsors, and no prize. As the event&#8217;s continued, they found big sponsors, and many professional riders from Europe and America showed up. Even though both of them pulled out the stops, they couldn&#8217;t get through the qualifying round. We just decided to participate the race 2 weeks ago. They weren&#8217;t 100% ready yet.<br \/>\n<a title=\"RHC2018\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bluelug\/28162756588\/in\/album-72157693553435822\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/908\/28162756588_1a3d6bd22a_o.jpg\" alt=\"RHC2018\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nHonestly, before I went there to witness, I felt half in doubt about the race. The brakeless fixed-gear criterium race sounded too dangerous for me (because\u00a0I&#8217;m Japanese maybe?) However, the event was very professional. Everything was well-organized and most of the riders were riding smooth. We had a great experience.
